On January 1, 2024, the Corporate Transparency Act took effect, bringing significant implications for small business owners who may be unaware of its impact. This act requires certain business entities to file a beneficial ownership information report with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a division of the U.S. Department of Treasury. Although aimed at combating money laundering, the act is far reaching and impacts many businesses.
