Join us for our October 29 webinar, "Hocus Pocus, Time to Focus: Innovative Career Development for Staff." Data from CUPA-HR's employee retention surveys show that staff are not satisfied with opportunities for advancement or with the amount of support for career development at their institutions. In this webinar, you'll: - Hear an overview of the program - Learn how to "carve out" a brighter future by advocating with senior leadership and managers for the career development of staff - Explore how to build an effective program, "witch" may include career coaching, career development sessions, resources and experiential programs - Hear how to best measure and report on outcomes to advocate for staff and funding (and maybe stir up a few cauldrons of support too!) - Unleash your inner mad scientist by exploring innovative ways to respond to employee needs Sponsored by Cornerstone OnDemand. ✨ It’s too easy to take daily routines for granted. But I have a renewed appreciation for living in central Florida, being a Disney family, and working in higher ed HR as higher ed HR leaders and partners from around the world came to Orlando for the annual CUPA-HR conference. It was a busy few days dodging a hurricane, attending sessions, catching up with other higher ed HR leaders, and picking the brains of some of the best leaders and brand partners in higher ed. Some of my key takeaways/reminders: 💫 𝗛𝗥 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: Higher ed HR professionals are not just support staff. We are thought partners, driving institutional success through innovative HR practices and strategic planning. 💫 “𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲”: Cast members from the Disney Institute shared how Disney continues to be one of the most recognized and respected workplace cultures in the world. 💫 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Continuous leadership development is essential to foster adaptive, forward-thinking leaders who can navigate the complexities of modern higher education, whether in or out of the classroom. 💫 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆: CUPA-HR helps build connections and community with higher-ed HR leaders and partners, sharing best practices, creating a support system, and celebrating our individual and collective successes. I am fortunate that I can lean on these leaders to help pull me out of the trenches when the days are long and the well is dry. 💫 𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝘁: Higher ed HR is embracing innovation and creativity as higher education continues to meet the evolving needs of the student population and global workforce. “That’s the way it’s always been” doesn’t work anymore. 👏🏻 A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize this conference and thank you Rollins College for allowing me the opportunity to continue my professional and personal growth. I’m leaving with fresh ideas, new friends, and renewed enthusiasm for the future of higher-ed HR. ❤️While so many of us in the south were spared from Hurricane Helene, my thoughts and prayers are with those who have suffered loss and continue to rebuild their homes and communities. #cupahr24 #HigherEdHR #ProfessionalDevelopment #WeAreHigherEdHR

Returning from an incredible experience at the CUPA-HR Annual Conference, where I had the chance to attend engaging presentations from leaders in Higher Ed and HR. Topics like AI, managing campus conflict, institutional alignment, and organizational structures that foster cohesion were at the forefront. Especially proud to be part of the CUPA-HR Emerging Leaders Cohort and the conversations, connections and support made possible by this programming. Grateful for time spent with the CUPA-HR NY Metro Chapter board and to have met the many other amazing chapter leaders making an impact. Thank YOU CUPA-HR for supporting, connecting and developing Higher Ed HR leaders and professionals!
