What a beautiful day for a race. We are so grateful to the "Jogging for Jake" team and all the teams that participated in the Jog Your Memory 5K held yesterday in Needham, MA.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of running in the Jog Your Memory 5k in Needham, MA along with some fellow-members of the Foxborough Rotary Club. A great morning was spent running for a terrific cause and learning more about how the Cure Alzheimer's Fund is working to find a cure to this terrible disease. I was a member of the Jogging for Jake team which was responsible for raising $6,000 to benefit the fund and all it hopes to accomplish. All told the event has raised upwards of $1.6 million over the last 10 years! Look into supporting the Cure Alzheimer's Fund if you have a chance, as they do great work! Thanks to Karen Friend and company for including me in such a special day!

I was encouraged by the increased attention to the role of immune cells in Alzheimer’s disease at #AAIC24. With age and cell damage, microglia and other immune cells may shift from protective to destructive. ICYMI: a new study supported by Cure Alzheimer's Fund funding, and led by Dr. David Holtzman, reveals that mice with loss of brain tissue caused by toxic tau, similar to that in Alzheimer’s, also have more peripheral immune T cells in their brains, attracted there by the brain-resident microglia. Understanding the role of these circulating immune cells in neurodegeneration may lead to new therapeutic strategies. Read more https://lnkd.in/guF_meBB #TCells #ImmuneCells #AlzheimersResearch
