At Cure, we have one goal: to Cure, period. #ICYMI, our live broadcast of Tuesday Talks with Kristen Dahlgren, please watch here: https://lnkd.in/eZXicFG2 and for more on the Cancer Vaccine Coalition https://lnkd.in/evAdNuuh #wewillcure #breastcancer #vaccines
Yesterday I had the pleasure of hosting Kristen Dahlgren a former NBC News and NBC Today Show correspondent, award-winning journalist, and #cancersurvivor turned entrepreneur who is now the Founder and CEO of the Cancer Vaccine Coalition. During our live broadcast of #TuesdayTalks at Cure., we explored a topic that affects millions of women worldwide: #breastcancer. We know the stats—that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime--but we've grown numb to it. It’s a staggering number that Kristen is determined to change. Kristen not only beat breast cancer, but has embarked on a bold mission to cure cancer, founding a groundbreaking initiative to accelerate vaccines that may be the answer to a cancer-free world. In January, she launched the Cancer Vaccine Coalition, bringing experts from leading institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center the Cleveland Clinic, MD Anderson Cancer Center Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and others to accelerate #cancervaccines currently in development across the #UnitedStates. We are at a tipping point for cancer vaccines she says: 1) We know the type of immune response needed, to kill cancer. 2) We know which parts of a cancer can stimulate the immune system. 3) New vaccine technology makes immunization more effective. Kristen says #vaccines may be the only way to kill every #cancer cell and eliminate breast cancer. We were able to accelerate them during the #pandemic, so why not now, she asks. And, unlike during the pandemic, cancer vaccines will not need to be mandated. They can be an option for anyone who is unwilling to settle for today’s less than desirable standard of care, she says.
