"Curnutt & Hafer is pleased to announce a recovery of $6.5 million collectively for two clients."                   Be sure to read the full story: Curnutt & Hafer is pleased to announce recovery of $6.5 million dollars collectively for two clients in companion lawsuits arising out of a rock mining quarry in Hood County, Texas. The defendant company purchased the operation but failed to fulfill its payment obligations to the selling mining company, and also failed to fulfill its reclamation obligations to the land owner. Attorney Kelly Curnutt served as lead counsel in both cases. After the defendant mining company refused to offer anything in settlement, the first case went to jury trial and settled on the fourth day for $2.5 million dollars. Based partly on the momentum from the first trial settlement, Mr. Curnutt forced the defendant mining company to settle the second lawsuit for $4 million dollars without having to go to trial. One of the two clients commented as follows: “Kelly Curnutt was amazing and never missed a beat. I was extremely pleased with his approach, his wisdom, intelligence, readiness, preparation, strategy, the utilization and professionalism of his staff and every other aspect of how he handled the case. We're thrilled to introduce Jaclyn Marsh, our summer law clerk! Jaclyn is about to embark on her third year at SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, bringing with her a background from Texas A&M University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Society, Ethics, and Law. Jaclyn's passion for Aggie football and horseback riding adds a spirited touch to our team. Jaclyn has been with the firm for almost a month and has been able to work alongside every attorney in the Arlington office, anywhere from tagging along to hearings for a close-up look into the courtroom, to document review and legal research. We are excited to have her with us in our summer law clerk program!
