Many people find interviewing nerve-wracking. I always tell candidates that having some nerves is okay; it means you're taking this seriously.   Treating those nerves before interview nerves is always tricky. What can you even do?   Maybe mindful breathing? Perhaps calming music? What about screaming directly into the void?   Yes, you could do those things, but you could also do the most helpful thing: research the company and the person you're speaking to.   Knowing a lot about a company helps provide context for the purpose of the position you're interviewing for. Knowing how this specific role fulfills the general mission of the company and what it means for its future provides confidence.   How would it feel to know that you specifically contributed to a company's future history? I think it would feel pretty good.   Be the person who understands the company and the role. Glide through the interview, explaining not just why your candidacy makes sense for the role but also why you make sense for that company. 

I had a manager stop me and call me out for being an abjectly inauthentic weirdo.   It was kinder than I just described, but they legitimately asked me, "What are you doing?" I had no good answer for it, just doing what I thought would fit a customer's ideal of me the best. They told me to stop and don't do it again. This was a small moment that changed everything for me.   Now, I find that being authentic, especially in the workplace, is one of my greatest strengths. Getting to show up each day and be myself is true freedom. It helps me do my job better, be better to others, and, most of all, love what I do.   Thankfully, Curran Recruiting is an environment that is built exactly around being your authentic self and harnessing that as a strength. We all have our "secrets" to success. Granted, some are much more of a secret than others, most are primarily things just unseen. I'm ready to share one of my favorite tools in the toolbelt. It's a website called ilovepdf.com. Need to turn that PDF into a Word doc? Done. What about split up that pesky 412 page PDF? Boom. Done. Oh you need to merge 2 PDFs because all of these documents were sent separately but should be together? Also done. Best part? It's free. There are some limitations to what it can do on the free version, but it doesn't limit you to a quantity of uses or any nonsense like that. I have been using this for the last 6 years and will always recommend it.
