Throughout CWEE’s 42 years of service, we have continually seen the importance of mental health services in not only gaining and retaining employment, but also in breaking cycles of generational poverty. Experiencing neglect, food scarcity, abuse, housing insecurity and other traumatizing life experiences has a direct impact on an individual’s mental health and wellbeing. The interconnected nature of mental health and self-sufficiency creates cyclical, difficult-to-break patterns in participants' lives. That's why CWEE has a team of dedicated, experienced professionals to support participants' mental health. Last Friday, the CWEE community came together to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our recent GED graduates! The festive celebration in CWEE's courtyard featured inspiring messages from our graduates, the presentation of hard-earned GED certificates and a reception with friends, family and CWEE staff following the ceremony. Eight CWEE participants earned their GED last fiscal year. Though not all graduates could make it to the celebration, we are exceptionally proud of each and every graduate for the resilience, grit and determination they showed while overcoming barriers to achieve this amazing accomplishment!

Meet Judeth, a CWEE participant building a new legacy for herself and her daughter! In addition to recently earning her GED, Judeth has worked tirelessly during her time with CWEE to achieve many other goals that are opening up new opportunities for herself and her family. "I just completed Career Kickstart where I was able to touch up my resume and cover letter and pick a career path I will thrive in. Career Kickstart gave me an opportunity to go down to the boutique to pick an outfit out so I feel better prepared for my mock interview and to make me feel professional. They provided me with a confidence booster! Not everyone gets these opportunities. CWEE never gave up on me, and I am grateful to have that. I am currently in the training search pathway to get support researching education options so I can finally begin training for my career and end the chapter of having government assistance provided for me and my daughter." Join us at Illuminating Futures on October 24 to hear more inspiring stories like Judeth's and celebrate the incredible achievements of our career seekers.
