Cycle for Survival
Non-profit Organizations
Cycle for Survival is the movement to beat rare cancers. Every dollar raised goes to research at MSK.
About us
Cycle for Survival is the movement to beat rare cancers. 100% of every dollar raised is directly allocated to rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) within six months of the close of fundraising annually. Cycle for Survival has raised more than $400 million since it first began in 2007. This milestone reflects the determination and generosity of our passionate community. Approximately 50% of people with cancer are battling a rare cancer, but they often have limited or no treatment options because rare cancer research is drastically underfunded. Together with founding partner, Equinox, Cycle for Survival funding has supported pioneering clinical trials, research studies and major scientific initiatives at MSK, leading to new and better treatment options for patients worldwide. The Cycle for Survival team Hammer Strikes Back started a new tradition this year as a way to raise even more money for rare cancer research at MSK: a polar plunge! The team rode in New York City in honor of Hamish, a 7th grader being treated for a rare and aggressive type of cancer called NUT carcinoma. Despite undergoing surgery just days before the polar plunge in January, Hamish tuned in from his hospital bed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center via FaceTime to watch the entire event live. So far, the team has raised over $121,000 this year!

“Cycle for Survival is not just an event, it’s a promise. A promise that no one fights alone. A promise that even in our darkest hours, there is light. A promise that our stories, our pain, our triumphs, and our voices will be heard.” When Noor was just four years old, she was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer called Wilms' tumor. Her family and friends immediately jumped into action to help others like her who were facing rare cancers and formed their Cycle for Survival team, Noor's Army. Now, Noor is cancer-free and preparing for college. Over the weekend, she joined us in NYC for her 13th year riding with Noor's Army, a testament to her incredible journey and the unwavering support of her community. Watch her full speech and drop a 🧡 in the comments for Noor!

"It has been the privilege of a lifetime for me to work on the Cycle for Survival team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center — and I found my way here unexpectedly. Twelve years ago, when I was 23, my mom was diagnosed with a rare cancer: cholangiocarcinoma. From the day of her diagnosis, my life changed forever. 'She’s not a candidate for surgery. We don’t have any effective treatment options. She has six months to live.' More than a decade later, those statements from doctors are etched on my heart, in the area that will forever be shattered. I lost my best friend, my North Star. She wasn’t able to see me get married. She will never meet my baby girl. I never want anyone to experience what I did. Yet I know so many of you have, or know someone who has. And that’s why you’re a part of this community. You’ve made the decision that no one should be left without options to save their life. Can I ask for your help today? As a past donor, please renew your support with a tax-deductible gift. If every person following us donates $25 today, we will raise over $500,000 to drive new therapies in rare cancer research, treatment, and care. What I learned when I first joined Cycle for Survival in 2014, and since I’ve worked at MSK, is that in this community, no one fights alone. No one. I just made my gift to kick us off, and I hope you will join me in giving today." ––Kristin S. Donate now: https://lnkd.in/e8EXFj6g
