It is *Hot Take Thursday* again 🔥 Let's talk about Threat Modeling today. The concept and practice has been around for years, but recent buzz around it from vendors reminded me of the Zero Trust space. 🔥 Repeat after me: Threat Modeling is a process, a framework, a set of techniques, not a TOOL! You cannot buy a tool that does threat modeling for you, just like you cannot buy a tool that does Zero Trust. Are there tools that supports Threat modeling? Yes. There are tools that supports the crafting of diagrams. There are tools that automates the collection of information during the process while enabling cross functional collaboration. There are also tools that automatically detect changes in architecture and data flow later in the lifecycle after the app is running. But there is no tool that fundamentally does everything threat model. At least not yet given where we are at with AI.
