However, being that June is #mensmentalhealthawarenessmonth let’s focus on an issue that is hardly ever talked about. 23 per 100,000 men in the United States commit suicide every year. While only 5.7 per 100,000 women in the United States commit suicide every year. Why such a drastic difference? Well, men typically are afraid to talk about how they’re feeling and what they’re going through. Men typically have many outside pressures and forces pulling on them all at the same time, which leads to depression and anxiety. These pressures of life are hard to deal with in the first place. However, if you cannot talk to someone about it, it makes you feel alone in your struggles. MEN, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Reach out to significant other, family or friends. You may be good at what you do, but how often are you not taking the proper steps to protect yourself and other workers around you? Complacency will lead to injuries or worse. What do you do in order to keep things at the forefront of your employees minds? The best way to keep things fresh is by utilizing a “Task Hazard Analysis,” or THA for short. You might say, “what is that?” Well, it’s quite simple. Your employees will Analyze the task they’re performing to identify hazards they will come across during their shift and figure out control measures to prevent injury. It’s best to be thorough.
