DTNA Network Academy

Steve is a vehicle instructor for Daimler Truck North America Service Training Academy located at our Western Training Center in Portland, Oregon.   Steve’s career has spanned 23 years including 5 years at Portland Community College (PCC) and 18 years and counting with DTNA.   While a student at PCC, Steve enjoyed the classroom and learning aspect so much he decided to one day become an instructor. When his former teacher/mentor at PCC decided to retire, his teacher helped him take his place in the classroom.   Steve’s DTNA career started out as a dual developer and trainer role but now focuses on teaching our dealer technicians on topics including Heavy-Duty Truck Systems, Electrical Trouble Shooting and DTNA Service Information along with his favorite classes being HVAC Diagnostics and Cascadia Classes.   Outside of work you can find Steve enjoying family time with his wife, three adult children and 3 grandchildren with his dream of owning a 1969 Jeep CJ5 to cruise in on fun road trips with his wife.   His best piece of advice to new techs is to “Be aware of training aspects of the company you want to work for, it is easy to get behind in technology if you are not with a company that wants to keep you growing and learning. Our final update on the Daimler Truck North America Detroit Training Center renovations! The construction is complete, and the beautiful learning lab is set for technicians to gain real world experience diagnosing and repairing Detroit Products with the guidance of Service Training Academy trainers.    This renovation doubled the size of the hands-on learning lab allowing for more space for technicians to practice their skills.    #traininganddevelopment #renovations #techs #learning

The Service Training Academy team, located at the Detroit Training Center, had the pleasure of hosting three national leaders from SkillsUSA: President Oviya Senthil (California), Secretary Lilia Burkes (Maryland), and Region 5 Vice President Troy Barrera (Nevada).   The students spent the week networking with industry professionals, attending technical trainings, touring our Detroit manufacturing plant and enjoyed a fun outing with our team to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Each student left a strong impression on the DTC team; these students from SkillsUSA illustrate a bright future for the trade industry in the United States. #SkillsUSA #students #tradeindustry

The Daimler Truck North America Get Ahead Program team, along with representatives from Diesel Truck Sales of Saginaw, Michigan, visited Baker College in Owasso, Michigan on April 24. The Service Training Academy donated a brand-new Freightliner 108SD Plus truck to the Baker College Auto Diesel Institute program. This donation would not be possible without a great partnership with Diesel Trucks Sales. Diesel Truck Sales and the Service Training Academy team spent the afternoon familiarizing students and instructors with the truck, highlighting the technological advances that help technicians to diagnose and repair trucks. #students #training

Earlier this month the Service Training Academy welcomed the DTNA District Service Managers from our Western US and Canadian regions for a day of electric vehicle and Detroit eFill charger training.   This training was provided by the STA corporate trainers at our South East training center located in Cleveland, North Carolina. #training #ev

Exciting updates on The Service Training Academy Detroit Training Center renovations!   Since we last saw you, our center has doubled the floor space by taking down a wall, the HVAC has been re-worked, airlines set, electrical and network connections in place, and polished it off with a fresh paint job on the walls, floor and ceilings.    We look forward to sharing more updates and are eager to see the finished product.    Next up on the project: moving all the equipment back into the space.
