It's Med-Surg Week, and we have the best Med-Surg team around! It's uncommon to find as many tenured RNs as we have on our Med-Surg floor! They really are a family, and their shared values of hard work, strong communication, and focus on care excellence fully shapes and influences a patient care experience unlike any other. This leads to ongoing low staff to patient ratios, no falls in the last year, very low readmissions, if any at all much of the time, superior infection control, and much more. We have the best of the best when it comes to Med-Surg staff! If a loved one is in a position of requiring Med-Surg care, ask for a referral to DCH. Our patients are like family to us and are treated so well, some wish they could stay longer. Entrust in DCH!

It's always a good day when Dr. Beecher, hip and knee replacement surgeon from Iowa Ortho, is in the Specialty Clinic. Just ask his patients. Dr. Beecher has primarily been treating patients ages 65 to 85 with arthritis. In his clinic, he is assisting patients with pain management, including through steroids injections. He is continuing to build his practice, and we are comforted knowing how many patients will benefit from his care. Please reach out to our Specialty Clinic with questions at 515.465.7684.

We offer such a tremendous swing bed program and have long-tenured, experienced staff when it comes to inpatient care. What can you expect from swing bed care or an inpatient stay with us? -Low patient to staff ratios -Timely response to call lights -Effective and standardized communication practices that are constantly embedded throughout one's stay -Great attention to infection control -No falls in the last year Only a few reasons to select DCH for this type of care. Just ask Betty. Betty is from Spring Valley in Perry and became unexplainably ill in October and admitted to Dallas County Hospital (DCH). This transpired into an inpatient stay at DCH of three weeks for weakness and signs of an infection. Betty has a farming background and has been a Dallas County resident for over 40 years. Betty had been to DCH for outpatient appointments, but this was her first experience receiving inpatient care. The focus of her care was on rebuilding her strength and resuming normal activities in a safe environment. Betty was entirely complimentary of her stay at DCH, and her family found their experience to be exemplary. "I really liked the nurses and the room. The nurses were kind and timely when I needed them. The therapy was wonderful. They encouraged me but did so politely,” said Betty. She and her family also enjoyed members of the environmental and dietary staff who ensured she had a superb stay. Family reported staff demonstrating patience, support, and a personable approach throughout. Betty was discharged and returned to Spring Valley and has continued with outpatient therapy from 21st Century Rehab. They have found her to continue to improve health-wise and in physical strength. Betty and family wish to thank DCH for the tremendous care and support provided to Betty during this difficult time. We are accepting new patients!
