What a fun and insightful visit as part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations with my friend and long-time colleague, President Alberto G. Musalem. I enjoyed hearing his inspiring story about how his upbringing influenced his career, and I was touched when he brought up a mantra we learned early in our work together: Mission first, people always.
Today I had the pleasure of taking part in a conversation moderated by my friend and fellow Fed president Lorie Logan. The event was organized by Hispanic-Latino employee resource groups ¡HOLA! of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and Mi Gente of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. I enjoyed talking about my experiences and how they shape my work today. We covered everything—from growing up in Latin America and the U.S. to what I hope to achieve during my tenure as St. Louis Fed president. With the event’s focus on “Leadership y Cultura,” I also had the opportunity to discuss how my background has impacted my leadership style. It was an honor to share my personal and professional experiences with employees across the Federal Reserve System at this great event hosted by the Dallas Fed. I welcome hearing from employees about their own experiences as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
