I read an article about Baptist Health System and Florida Blue's prominence in NE Florida. It stated that the two have served Jacksonville for a combined total of 149 years. Their commitment to our area and the services they provide is commendable. Did you know that this year Daniel, Florida's oldest child serving organization is recognizing 140 years of serving Jacksonville's most marginalized, vulnerable and at-risk youth? From our earliest roots as an orphanage beginning during the Yellow Fever epidemic until now, Daniel's focus has always been on the welfare of children. Daniel provides services in the areas of counseling for abused and emotionally troubled children, connecting children with caring foster or adoptive families, offering homeless teens shelter and support, and strengthening and reunifying high-risk families. For more information on the services Daniel provides, please see our website.

Did you know Daniel serves an estimated 5,000 kids and families each year? We are still in need of school supplies to help some of Jacksonville's most vulnerable kids and families start the year off right. We have extended our deadline and continue to accept supplies for youth of all ages attending all area schools. Now collecting basic supplies - composition books, loose leaf paper, 1" & 2" binders, markers, dividers, pencils/pens, colored pencils, pink erasers, backpacks, copy paper, expo markers, 3x5 cards, head phones, pocket folders, crayons, etc. Teachers also request students bring hand sanitizer, tissues, wipes, gallon storage bags and more. For some of our families, it is cost prohibitive to fulfill these lists. That's where you come in! Our donation hours are Monday - Friday, 9AM - 4PM. Thank you for helping us #improvetheoddsforkids Please help us help area youth start the year off right. and works to improve their lives through a variety of programs. It's people like Katrina Brown, SIPP (Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program) Clinical Supervisor, that make Daniel such an amazing place. Kat pours her heart and soul into every child she counsels. She works with the unique traumas that led each child to Daniel to help them find coping skills and healing paths. Kat loves all the kids and the kids all love Kat. She provides them with encouragement, compassion, empathy and understanding, but most of all she loves them for who they are. Thank you, Kat, for 10 years of dedicated service and for your work improving the odds for kids!
