In this workshop in partnership with CLO Virtual Fashion Inc. we will analyze the “glasillas” studied by professor Victoria Vasquez as part of her PhD research. These copied mock-ups, now part of Museo Del Traje collection, offer a glimpse into the historical practices of pattern makers, ateliers, and companies who copied (and sold) designs from world-famous ateliers in Paris. By analyzing these toiles, we'll discover details of pattern making, construction techniques, and material choices, and learn how these copied garments, once considered imitations, now hold historical and cultural significance. Samen met Suzanne Mulder voor #5Dculture (Studio PMS en Centraal Museum), Daniele Scarante en Martin Ponzoni van d_archive en MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp, Dylan Eno en Finn van Tol, hebben we gepresenteerd hoe de technieken uit deze flowchart wordt toegepast in inspirerende digitaliseringsprojecten, gericht op praktische stappen, resultaten en einddoelen. All of this is to inspire professionals about the immense value of digital possibilities in the (fashion) heritage sector. This flowchart, initiated by Dylan Eno and Charlotte Simons, offers practical insights into today’s digitisation techniques and their applications for (fashion) heritage collections. We would like to thank European Fashion Heritage Association for organising such a valuable workshop in Milan, and for having us as part of the guest speakers alongside Federica Vacca, Angelica Vandi and Greta Rizzi from Gianfranco Ferré Research Center, Debra Knoop from Modemuze, Suzanne Mulder from Centraal Museum Utrecht, Dieter Suls from MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp, Dylan Eno and Finn van Tol. We were inspired by the insightful presentations and discussions, which fostered a collaborative and stimulating environment for sharing ideas, experiences and knowledge.

After our initial conversation with professor Daphne Mohajer va Pesaran, we delved into the National Gallery of Victoria's (NGV) collection in Melbourne. The museum has an ancient Kimono made of paper in their collection, as well as some poster dresses from the 60s. Utilizing digital technology, we created 3D replicas of these garments. This process enabled us to create a comprehensive database, preserving the patterns, textures, and documenting the craftsmanship of each piece. We will be in Madrid in November presenting our work during this conference about technology, craft and fashion, contributing to the discussion on how traditional techniques and innovative ones can come together to preserve fashion and textile heritage. There is also an open call for papers!

In conversation with Daphne Mohajer va Pesaran, fashion researcher, Lecturer, and Program Manager at RMIT University. During our residency at Atopos CVC we sat with Daphne to get more insights on her research practice and understand how paper garments and the current perception of disposability of clothes are connected. From 17th to 21st June, fashion researcher, Lecturer, and Program Manager Daphne Mohajer va Pesaran from RMIT University, invited d_archive team to collaborate on a residency about paper garments at Atopos CVC, in Athens. We spent a week surrounded by the beautiful Atopos collection, learning from curators and going through interesting readings in the library. On Thursday afternoon, a group of designers, students, pattern makers and artists participated in the workshop and we all had insightful conversations while reverse-engineering some paper kimonos. It was an inspiring and fun experience and we couldn’t be more thankful!
