Here’s the story behind Sauz, one of the hottest brands in CPG. We met the Sauz founders (Troy Bonde / Winston Alfieri) when they were undergrads at USC with the idea to launch a fun tomato sauce brand that shook up the space. The premise was simple: the tomato sauce aisle was boring from a design perspective... All heritage Italian brands with the same packaging. So they decided to introduce a new brand with bold designs and flavor innovation. We designed for retail, understanding that retail would be the primary battleground for winning consumers. There’s a reason this sauce is the number 1 and 2 best-selling sauce in Erewhon. Product and Packaging, together. My co-founder Jackson Corey led and executed some of the most masterful design in CPG. He deserves a lot of credit for the identity work. Coefficient Capital just led their series seed. Modern Retail just published a full feature. This is a brand to watch.
