Reflecting on an incredible time at the Whole Girl Education National Conference last week! Feeling truly inspired after reconnecting with current and former colleauges, and hearing from powerhouses like Tina Tchen, Dr. Ruha Benjamin, and Valerie Jarrett. The sessions with organizations such as Girls Who Code and Riley's Way Foundation were thought provoking and provided many ideas I will use in my work. Thank you to Student Leadership Network for hosting such a wonderful event. #NonProfitImpact #nonprofit #nonprofitdata #nonprofitcoach #nonprofitconsultant

This month, 200 human services workers turned out to Albany to demand #JustPay! Our advocacy got us a 3.2% COLA for State-contracted human services workers in the one-house budgets - a major win. However, the budgets were missing Wage Board Legislation, which would help close the pay gap between government and nonprofit human services workers, who make 30% less than government workers for the same work. This legislation would establish a Human Services Wage Board to investigate these pay disparities and produce a report with recommendations on salaries and benefits of human services workers, which will be given to the Governor and Legislature. There’s still time to make your voices heard. Sign up for the #JustPay Social Work Week of Action to call State leaders TODAY and demand Wage Board Legislation in the final budget: https://lnkd.in/eQTm5_bE @Governor Kathy Hochul, @Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Carl Heastie

This past Friday, March 15th, I had the privilege of leading Data Day at Read Alliance, a fantastic non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the educational journey of young students through one-on-one literacy tutoring. Data Day aimed to equip Read Alliance staff with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage and utilize data in support of this impactful mission. We kicked off the day with a crucial component: data security. As many of you know, Read Alliance works with sensitive information, and protecting that data is paramount. The Annual Data Security Training started with teaching staff to identify Personally Identifiable Information (PII). We then discussed how to recognize and avoid Phishing & Social Engineering attempts, and reviewed best practices for keeping passwords secure. The afternoon transitioned to empowering staff with hands-on data expertise. I led small group Data Review Meetings with Program Managers. Leveraging the custom dashboards I created specifically for Read Alliance, we conducted in-depth mid-year data reviews. These interactive sessions allowed program staff to not only identify any potential errors or missing data, but also ask questions about the data systems and gain a deeper understanding of how the data is used. By the end of the sessions, program staff left with clear follow-up action items to ensure all information is accurate and up-to-date. Data Day at Read Alliance was a resounding success. By emphasizing data security, fostering open communication, and facilitating collaborative data review, we empowered staff to leverage data as a powerful tool in support of Read Alliance's mission to empower young minds.
