About us
Inspired by nature, we empower health, performance, and well-being with our most fundamental tool - connection. Dayhouse is an interior design company integrating biophilic design, aesthetics and functionality to connect people with nature and self-care. As a research-backed firm, Dayhouse brings the health benefits of nature, physical activities, music, social support, relaxation, and more. Our multifaceted and tailored approach designs every room around client-specific health needs. Dayhouse enables clients to receive the same health benefits experienced outdoors while enjoying their indoor environments by implementing diverse lighting strategies including natural light, views to nature, biomorphic patterns, plants and fresh flowers, natural materials, sounds and smells from nature and other features. Our unique, integrated design framework puts mental, physical, and environmental health first. Dayhouse is changing the way our clients and our communities interact with indoor landscapes by bringing us back to our roots. Welcome home.

Embrace the beauty of dynamic and diffuse light in design! This biophilic pattern mimics nature’s changing light and shadow, creating a space where illumination shifts throughout the day. By incorporating varying intensities of light and shadow, we bring a touch of nature’s rhythm into interiors. #dayhouseliving #biophilicdesign #biophilia #designforhealth #designforwellness #designmagazine #athome #wellness #sustainability #sustainable #selfcare #biophilicarchitecture #designforwellbeing #enjoylongevity #utahhomes #biophilicresearch #healthydwelling #interiordesign #designforwellbeing #interiordesignutah #selfcare #interiordesigner #natureinspired #designforhealth

To honor World Mental Health Day, let's grow awareness about how a biophilic home environment and self-care can help to improve mood, reduce stress, increase positive emotions, and even heal depression. The Dayhouse team has pioneered evidence-based home design for people who struggle with depression, as described in our peer-reviewed article "Healthy Dwelling: Design of Biophilic Interior Environments Fostering Self-care Practices for People Living with Migraine, Chronic Pain and Depression”, published in Int J Environ Res Public Health, follow the link here: https://lnkd.in/gUVruDRf Biophilic design supports at-home mental health solutions by creating beautiful and restorative spaces which promote both multisensory engagement and peaceful relaxation (think of a daily pleasing experiences for brain health - neuroaethetics - through visual and non-visual connections with nature). Multiple research studies showed that nature-based restorative environments and biophilic elements can modulate affective states and improve mental well-being. For people living with depression, biophilic design provides: 1. More natural bright light, an important ingredient for treating mood disorders [1] 2. Natural sounds, shown to improve positive affect [2] 3. Indoor plants and flowers, shown to reduce stress, depressive symptoms and negative emotions [3] 4. Prospect and refuge elements, offering a sanctuary that nurtures feelings of safety, comfort and openness [4] Imagine such nature-based home environments that foster evidence-based self-care practices to further reduce depressive symptoms and increase positive emotions (think of listening to music, physical activities, aromatherapy, mindfulness meditation, sleep hygiene etc).
