Design Build Excellence X-Training

Last month, the Design Build Excellence X-Training program participated in a retrospective walkthrough of LaGuardia Airport - Delta - Terminal C. The walkthrough was organized by KLE Consulting and consisted of team members from Turner Construction Company, Burns & McDonnell, JLL, and Delta Air Lines. The group was able to tour the terminal and it's mechanical spaces, learning about the construction process, as well as challenges the operations team has faced post-construction. We would like to extend a big thank you to Vinny Sicat for coordinating this amazing walkthrough! Yesterday we kicked off this year’s Design Build Excellence X-Training Design Studio Collaboration program! Each year, we challenge our participants to respond to a mock RFP to try to win a Design-Build project for their “company” in a final presentation to a panel of judges in the AEC industry. The course will continue to explore best practices in design and construction of Commercial to Residential conversions. We look forward to seeing what our teams come up with over the course of the next two months! This summer, Turner Construction Company interns participated in the Intern Career Discovery (ICD) Program, which aimed to provide them with an in-depth understanding of the construction industry by working/collaborating with architects, designers, manufacturers, and trade partners. Last week, team members from Turner Construction Company and KLE Consulting had the chance to tour the Columbia University Central Energy Plant at the Manhattanville Campus. This walkthrough highlighted the facility's generation capabilities and provided the group with insights into plant management and the forthcoming plans to comply with Local Law 97 regulations. A special thank you to Sejal Shah, Mike Haeser, and Anthony Seenath for being such gracious hosts!
