We're still celebrating the opening of the new Whitlock Elementary School! With 25,000 sqft added, we've transformed this 1960s building into a 75,000 sqft world-class facility. From early childhood classrooms to the library, gym, and cafeteria, we're proud to play a role in building and delivering learning spaces for the next generation of DCPS students. Whitlock ES is designed as a LEED Gold building with geothermal wells, stormwater management, and solar panels, ready for the future. This modernization effort isn't just about infrastructure—it's about investing in the future of DC's students, teachers, and staff. We appreciate the work of the design-build team, Studio MB Design, Gilbane Building Company, and all involved in helping us deliver this new school asset. We could not do this work without our outstanding Capital Construction Project Team and all involved! Some of our favorite photos from last week's festivities! #DGSBuilds #DGSDelivers #BackToSchoolDC2024

✨Honoring History Through Construction at Walter Pierce Park! ✨ We're proud to announce the completion of Phase 2 at Walter Pierce Park, where nine newly installed signs now stand to honor the 8,428 ancestors laid to rest here. These signs tell the extraordinary stories of the self-emancipated people who sought freedom and a new life in Washington, D.C., during the Civil War. This project is a testament to collaboration, honoring descendants, and respecting archaeologists and city agencies who work to preserve history. Each sign captures the essence of the Reconstruction era, connecting the past with the present. DGS is honored to have contributed to making this project a reality. Together, we're ensuring that the stories of these ancestors continue to inspire future generations. 📸 from Saturday's dedication hosted by the Walter Pierce Park Archaeology Project group.
