We're still buzzing from the Sept. 14 Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party at Kenilworth Courts! Grocery giveaways, a live band, food trucks, dozens of service providers, games for the kids, and an appearance by NFL Hall of Famer Darrell Green -- what a special day for our families. Check out this video recap! 📽️

Recently, DCHA fathers in our Fatherhood Initiative program held a meeting at our EnVision Center in Greenleaf Gardens. They listened to guest speakers from Leaders Lead explain the importance of fathers as leaders, what fatherhood looks like and the importance of having resources and support systems in place from the community. Our DCHA Fathers look forward to these monthly opportunities to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe space. Our goal remains to continue to engage and empower our DCHA residents to dream bigger!

Last month, DCHA fathers participating in The Fatherhood Initiative spent some quality time with each other and their families while watching the Washington Nationals take on the L.A. Angels. The Fatherhood Initiative, recently launched by DCHA's Office of Resident Services, hosts outings and events to foster a safe space to empower DCHA fathers to be their very best. The goal is to strengthen DCHA families and communities by keeping fathers engaged.

We celebrated the Kenilworth Courts community on Saturday, Sept. 14 with our latest Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party! 🎈 Delicious treats, plenty of games, and toy and grocery giveaways marked the occasion as we soaked up some of the last of the sizzling summer weather. Plus, DC's Hall of Fame Cornerback Darrell Green paid a special visit to join in on the fun. Thank you to the Deputy Mayor of Public Safety and Justice, DC Department of Parks and Recreation and all of our service providers who helped make this event possible! Thank you to EZ Street, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement and Mute the Violence DC for hosting the Potomac Gardens Summer Camp! Our kids developed skills that they can use in podcasting, video production and other creative fields.
Congrats to the nearly five dozen DCHA youth who graduated from Potomac Gardens Summer Camp! Throughout the 7-week program, the kids wrote and produced original songs and music videos - including Too Many Kids in Here. Just check out their talent! Led by EZ Street, a prominent radio personality, community activist, and founder of Academy DC, and in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Advancement and Mute the Violence DC, the camp gave kids a chance to explore creative careers like sound engineering, songwriting, podcasting, DJing and more. Providing hands-on experience in different industries is an important step in helping our kids make informed decisions about their futures. Thank you to our partners and we look forward to continuing our work together!
