  • We are excited to announce a significant step in our advocacy efforts. In collaboration with 17 other esteemed organizations, we've formally requested President Biden to issue a White House proclamation declaring November as National Stomach Cancer Awareness Month. This initiative goes beyond mere recognition. We've also proposed illuminating the White House in periwinkle as part of 'The Power of Periwinkle' global awareness campaign. This visual statement would bring unprecedented attention to the cause of stomach cancer research, prevention, and patient support. Key points of our advocacy push: 1. Official recognition of November as National Stomach Cancer Awareness Month 2. Illumination of the White House in periwinkle 3. Alignment with the Cancer Moonshot initiative's goals This effort represents a culmination of years of grassroots advocacy and a testament to the growing strength of the stomach cancer community. A White House proclamation would significantly elevate the national conversation around stomach cancer, potentially influencing policy decisions, research funding, and public awareness. We invite healthcare professionals, researchers, and supporters to join us in this crucial campaign. Share this post, use #PowerOfPeriwinkle in your communications, and reach out to your networks to amplify our message. • Empowering Change: The Critical Role of Advocacy in Stomach Cancer Research Funding At Debbie's Dream Foundation, we believe in the power of informed advocacy. Today, we're shedding light on a crucial aspect of cancer research that often goes unnoticed: the role of federal funding. Key Facts: ➡️ The majority of cancer research in the U.S. is federally funded ➡️ U.S. Senators and Representatives decide annual research spending levels ➡️ These decisions significantly impact the volume of stomach cancer research conducted each year This knowledge presents both a challenge and an opportunity. While it highlights the vulnerability of research to political processes, it also empowers us to directly influence these decisions through civic engagement. How you can help: 1. Educate yourself on current research funding levels 2. Identify and contact your representatives 3. Articulate the importance of stomach cancer research 4. Advocate for increased funding allocation We're committed to equipping our community with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively advocate for increased stomach cancer research funding. By leveraging our collective voice, we can drive meaningful change in the fight against this disease. Interested in learning more about our advocacy initiatives or how you can get involved?
