Seven years ago today, I launched Deciens Capital. In that time we have grown from a very modest project - backing some early stage fintechs - to what I hope is my life's work. I can now see how what we are doing offers something substantively different (and hopefully better) version of venture capital. That version, one which is better for all stakeholders, is the most exciting thing I have ever worked on. In time, I hope that Deciens can become a true financial services holding company in the fullest sense of the term.
The work of Deciens never stops. I travel ~200 nights a year. Fly ~120 times a year. Am on the phone and/or e-mail 18 hours a day, 365 days a year. That is what it takes to defy orthodoxy. To push the limits, and overcome the status quo.
In that time I have had incredible people join me on this journey. Obviously - Ishan Sachdev, Vishal Rana, Cutler Cook, Amy Slater, Aelin Kim, and Madeleine McCullough. And, the one and only, Jo Stein. For putting up with me, being on this adventure, and embracing it - Thank you.
There are our 550+ LPs, who have helped us grow and prosper. So many people in the VC business take their LPs for granted. To you, I promise we will never, ever, do that. You all have my phone #. Call me, text me, or WhatsApp me anytime. A personal thank you to Richard Melmon, Hiroshi Menjo, peter monaco, Jim Pallotta, Scott, Cook Brian Borton, CFA, Lara Banks, Ajit Singh ,FRM, CAIA, Rakan AlBenyan, and so many others for making it possible.
Funds 1 & 2 are fully deployed, and Fund 3 is active. In the coming weeks and month we'll talk more about Fund 3. But for now I want to thank our incredible founders and co-investors for making it happen every day.
It truly takes a village. I am thankful our best years are yet to come!
