Not enough attention is paid to payroll. Which probably means it’s not as well run as it could be.
Payroll is the backbone of every company. It’s how people get paid, how livelihoods get made, and how companies scale. Payroll drives the global economy 🌎
It’s also super complex and requires a lot of specific expertise to build right. Payroll managers work so hard, and yet the role is only getting more intense with little recognition.
To date, payroll has been highly fragmented. Payroll companies provide solutions in specific parts of the world and use third parties to deliver payroll in other parts of the globe where they don’t have solutions to offer their clients. We think this is inefficient and comes at the expense of the customer experience.
That’s why we’re rolling out the world’s first truly global payroll engine - a single, unified calculation engine that can configure and scale to any country, with compliance front and center. We’re taking the 20+ years of knowledge with our acquisition of PaySpace’s (now Deel Local Payroll’s) cloud-native system and localizing everything inside our engine. We’re leveraging recently-acquired Safeguard’s payroll implementation muscle and knowledge.
Today, Deel operates in 53 countries under one single infrastructure and engine, including recent launches in the UK, Brazil, South Africa, Canada, and the UAE. Our goal is to bring real-time payroll to 130+ countries worldwide.
Processing payroll across countries and time zones used to take days (and sometimes weeks), but with a single, native payroll engine, businesses get instant, real-time gross-to-net calculations. It’s solving a significant pain point for multi-national organizations in one system, one code base, without intermediaries or third parties.
We have a lot to build, but executing on all of this will change how payroll is run everywhere. The payroll industry has an amazing community looking for change and better tools, which we can provide. We care deeply about the community and like them, we live and breathe the subject. It’s time payroll gets the disruption it deserves 🦾
