To honor the last week of #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth, we turn to Janet Rubleske, Controller at DeepSeas, who shared her personal experience with scams that start with text messages. The sender claims to be an executive at your company asking for your help with an urgent request for gift cards. Janet's advice is to be skeptical, asking yourself, “Would this exec. really text me and ask for money or gift cards?”     In these cases, don’t reply. Responding to the text tells the cyber criminal that they have found an active phone number.     Get more cyber awareness tips from our DeepSeas crew: shouldiclickit.com

DeepSeas Takeaway: CVE-2024-43532 stems from how Microsoft’s Remote Registry client handles RPC authentication during certain fallback scenarios when SMB transport is unavailable. Microsoft issued a patch for the vulnerability but the researcher who discovered the vulnerability has released a PoC exploit. A YARA rule has been released. https://lnkd.in/gWFiAJEw

The DeepSeas Take: Researchers looked at several cloud services to include pCloud, Icedrive, Seafile, and Tresorit, finding flaws that could allow user’s data to be accessed. With the wide reliance on cloud, to include at-home users, threat actors will likely exploit these vulnerabilities to access data. Join our webinar with Mike Johnson TODAY at 12 p.m. EST! While MSPs, MSSPs, and providers of MDR often serve the same clients, they are not competitors. Their true competition and collective targets are threat actors. This joint webinar with Cynomi and DeepSeas is designed for MSP leaders who want to grow their businesses and expand their cybersecurity services by partnering with other professionals. Our speaker, Mike Johnson, VP Partners & Alliances at DeepSeas, will go over the essence of vCISO and cybersecurity services and share how strategic partnerships can be key to growing your cybersecurity business. Other key topics will include: 1.    Ways to accelerate your (and your clients') cybersecurity journey 2.    How you can build a vCISO practice without a huge upfront investment 3.    How service providers can win together through beneficial partnerships that drive down costs and add value for mutual clients Register Today: https://lnkd.in/gnUr7WNz

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, one of our Deeps, Christina D'Antonio, shared her personal story about a loved one. Our crew at DeepSeas admires Christina's courage and spirit of service.     If her story inspires you, we invite you to give generously to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer.    Below is Christina’s story, shared with her permission in her own words.     "A woman who I lovingly refer to as my other mother (hired me as a part-time kid, worked with her for years, still go over to her house almost weekly for game night) was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It was scary, shocking, upsetting, unsettling. You name it, we felt it. She was terrified. I was terrified. But I knew that I had to be strong and be there for her. She needed both chemo and radiation. Her husband is a bit older than her, so going to these appointments wasn't the best for him (and I'm pretty sure she would've taken him out LOL). I told her I'd be there for every appointment to sit with her and drive her home (chemo is very taxing on the body), and I was. We'd sit and play cards until the effects of the drugs took over and her 'Benadryl Cocktail' kicked in and she fell asleep. I'd then get back to work, keeping tabs on her every few minutes to make sure she was okay. Every week I watched her lose more weight, hair, and sometimes hope and determination, in which case I'd have to knock some sense back into her as her PITA adopted daughter. She'd get it together and fight through. Each week, regardless of the ups and downs, she fought through. She is now just over 5 years cancer free, and I thank the heavens each day she was able to beat it, as I know others haven't been as fortunate. Watching someone go through something like that is very humbling. It makes you take a step back and appreciate life and everything it has to offer, making you live each moment to the fullest. I am so grateful I get to keep her just that much longer."
