About us
The Defense Civilian Training Corps is a scholarship program to prepare the future civilian workforce of the U.S. Department of Defense. Talented students with a demonstrated interest in making a difference are selected from majors such as finance, engineering, sciences, business, and public policy to join a DCTC cohort at host universities across the United States. Four universities are running pilot programs for 2023-24: North Carolina A&T, Purdue, the University of Arizona, and Virginia Tech. DCTC is a collaborative effort across government, industry, and academia. The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)) is the lead organization for the pilot, working with the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) and the Chief Digital & Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). Implementation of the pilot program and curriculum is led by the Acquisition Innovation Research Center (AIRC), a university affiliated research center (UARC) anchored out of Stevens Institute of Technology and comprising more than two dozen STEM universities.

#DCTC Pilot University Virginia Tech brought together Scholars to inspire this next generation for a life geared towards public service. Virginia Tech #DCTC Director, Greg Lowe captured it best, "As future leaders in the Department of Defense civil service and our national security enterprise, they are contributing toward something bigger than themselves."
Virginia Tech “welcomed home” our 28 Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) scholars from their summer internship, and welcomed 38 new scholars to the program with our Fall kickoff at the VT Venture Out Challenge Course! We opened with inspiring and congratulatory opening remarks from Virginia Tech National Security Institute Executive Director Dr. Eric Paterson and Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Commandant BG Dwayne Edwards fueled with pizza, and then tested our mettle through a variety of team-building activities. I can already see these amazing students embracing our university motto, Ut Prosim…That I may serve. As future leaders in the Department of Defense civil service and our national security enterprise, they are contributing toward something bigger than themselves. For more information on this tremendous scholarship program, sign up for the Hume Center for National Security and Technology at Virginia Tech weekly newsletter. Applications for VT students graduating in May ‘27 open September 3rd! https://lnkd.in/etEf4Kvp Let’s Go…Hokie Scholars!

Camille McCall is a shining example of the best and brightest of Cohort '26, 101 Scholars starting their junior year with #DCTC.
Thrilled to share some exciting news with my LinkedIn family! I'm proud to announce that I have been accepted into Cohort 1 of the Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) Scholars Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I'm incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity and eager to see where this journey takes me. Recently, I also had the chance to attend the DCTC Scholars Showcase in Washington, DC, which was both enlightening and deeply informative. #DCTC #Cohort1 #AggiePride

We can't wait to see all that you accomplish in your senior year with #DCTC Akira Y Jones!
This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Geospatial Research Lab. It was fantastic to learn about the capabilities of remote sensing and geospatial information systems. At the completion of my internship, I was able to present my research at the Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) Scholar Showcase. It was fun reconnecting with my peers as well as meeting Cohort '26. Big thank you to the The Acquisition Innovation Research Center (AIRC) team for organizing this experience! I am excited to jump back into the classroom for our last year in DCTC.
