The Defense Intelligence Agency is close to getting the green light to operate an artificial intelligence-enabled tool on the U.S. military’s Secret Internet Protocol Router Network, according to a senior official. The spy organization is rolling out the Machine-assisted Analytic Rapid-repository System, or MARS, to replace the decades-old Military Intelligence Integrated Database with a cloud-based capability that can use AI to help analysts sift through and make sense of big data. https://lnkd.in/eTmqxNiC

In a ceremony Wednesday, the Army’s organization responsible for outfitting units with network equipment underwent a name change and redesignation. The organization previously known as program executive office for command, control, communications-tactical (PEO C3T) has been rebranded as program executive office for command, control, communications and network, or PEO C3N. The redesignation is in line with the Army’s vision for a unified network that eschews the historical tactical and enterprise distinctions. Historically, the service has siloed its network from enterprise and tactical and across each theater, which has limited its ability to share information and conduct operations. https://lnkd.in/e-Wzm_rr

The Space Development Agency is finalizing requirements and upcoming solicitations for around 200 satellites that will make up the third tranche of its Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) constellation. According to a recent notice to industry posted on Sam.gov, SDA intends to release the first draft solicitations for Tranche 3 of the PWSA’s tracking and transport layers in early 2025. Those satellites — slated to begin launching in 2028 — are expected to provide advancements in capabilities from previous tranches, as well as feature new warfighting applications. https://lnkd.in/eufTmaEC

The U.S. military is using one of its main data analytics and common operational picture tools as part of its response efforts to aid in Hurricane Helene relief. Several active-duty components, defense agencies and the National Guard are aiding in the relief efforts as requested by the states affected under what’s known as “defense support to civil authorities,” which allow the military to be employed domestically when asked. The Maven Smart System — an AI-enabled platform for geospatial visualization of data that was designed for use by combatant commands and other units to facilitate battlespace awareness, global integration, contested logistics, joint fires and targeting workflows — is being deployed to aid in the relief efforts. https://lnkd.in/gfv-duWb
