Last week DVRPC’s Joe Banks joined Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) Deputy Chief Planning Officer Jody Holton, Philadelphia Streets Dept Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Deputy Commissioner of Operations Susan Buck, Montgomery County, PA Commissioner Neil Makhija, and representatives from Fox Chase Civic Association and the Circuit Trails Coalition to celebrate the opening of a portion of the Fox Chase Lorimer Trail in Philadelphia. Part of the Circuit Trails network, the trail provides convenient, multimodal access to the SEPTA Fox Chase Station. Last week, DVRPC’s Liz Compitello, AICP, Wideleine Desir, and Karin Morris hosted a team from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s National Renewable Energy Laboratory for a convening about DVRPC's DOE Clean Energy To Communities grant to create a Clean Energy Activation Hub. The technical workshop on Thursday brought together partners from our five PA counties at the Energy Coordinating Agency's Knight Green Careers Training Center in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. The Center prepares students for high-demand clean energy careers that provide family sustaining wages, such as those in solar, HVAC, residential energy efficiency, green construction, and environmental remediation.

The DVRPC/PennDOT Connects Bike-Friendly Resurfacing Program was recently recognized by the National Association of Regional Councils for excellence in programs and services. The program, which is a partnership with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and the City of Philadelphia, aims to identify useful connections, improve safety for people bicycling, and implement new facilities efficiently.
