🩸 Donating whole blood isn’t the only way to make a life-saving difference. Individual blood components, like platelets, are critical to patient care. Maintaining a robust supply of platelets—without relying solely on whole blood donations—is pivotal for transfusion networks and delivering vital resources quickly to those in need. Despite its importance, platelet donation is less widely known, so keeping frequent donors engaged is vital. That’s where advanced digital tools for donor engagement become invaluable. Stay tuned to learn how our OpenChair platform—already trusted by multiple blood centers across the US—can effectively support donor engagement efforts, leveraging AI 📲

The AABB conference in Houston was a blast! 🚀 Over the past four days, we had the incredible opportunity to meet and connect with many of the industry's key players. We shared our vision for the immense technological transformation opportunities within the blood sector, especially during such a critical time for global (and US) blood reserves. We also introduced some of our cutting-edge technological solutions and highlighted a few of the most promising results we're achieving with our American partners. Stay tuned for more on that! 📻 As our CEO Barbara Sala noted, “A major theme we heard was the need to increase platelet availability, and we’re fully committed to supporting this through our OpenChair AI-powered donor recruitment and marketing platform, which is designed to help blood centers more effectively recruit platelet donors.” “We also explored some of the evolving needs in the biotherapy space and are eager to contribute there as well. Our innovation team is already hard at work on this front.” A huge thanks to our team on the ground and to our ever-supportive partners in the US: Amanda Farrell, José Fragoso, Rafał Borowski, Robert Giulitto, and Allyson Young 🙏 #AABB24

We're only a few days away from the AABB Conference in Houston! 🚀 This will be a great opportunity for you to get hands-on experience with some of our most advanced devices designed to optimize blood collection operations. Both the Milano scale and Roma sealer feature sleek lines inspired by Italian design, but what really drives our prototyping process is our commitment to providing the best user experience for healthcare professionals. Milano and Roma share at least two key features: 💼 Ergonomics From the comfortable grip of Roma to the upward-facing display of the Milano scale, both devices are designed with ease of use in mind. 🔋 Portability and mobility Milano and Roma are engineered for maximum convenience in fast-paced environments. No need for cables or charging outlets. Milano can handle 100 donations on a single charge, and the battery swaps out in seconds. Roma recharges every time it’s placed in its base. Come check them out, along with many other new innovations, at our booth #457 at #AABB24 from October 19-22!

Exciting news! 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce, in collaboration with Healthcare-ID, Inc., the successful integration of Donor-ID—a system that automates donor eligibility checks and data entry at collection sites—with our Milano whole blood mixer, a smart scale that enhances the safety and efficiency of blood collection by digitizing workflows and data tracking. This integration between Donor-ID and the Milano scale is designed to streamline data sharing across devices and systems, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the donor collection process. By supporting a fully paperless workflow, it eliminates the need for manual documentation, significantly enhancing data quality. 💬 As our CEO, Barbara Sala, shares: “Our mission is to make it as easy as possible for blood centers to use data to streamline operations and build stronger, more positive relationships with their donors. Collaborating with major organizations like Healthcare-ID is key to ensuring our technology brings real benefits to the work of operators” Check out the article on AP News in the comments to hear more from Healthcare-ID's VPs, Steve and Bryan Sadorf(📸) 👇

🩸 Donating blood is one of the most important acts of care and altruism we can offer to those in need. But did you know that more than a quarter of the US blood supply supports cancer patients? Each year, over 1.9 million people are diagnosed with cancer, and many will need blood transfusions during treatment. This could be due to anemia, thrombocytopenia, or blood loss from surgery, often caused by the disease or treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. About 46% of platelet transfusions go to patients with cancers such as leukemia, myeloma, and lymphoma. Your donation plays a vital role. If you have time for just one read today, check out this comprehensive article from the American Cancer Society on the critical importance of transfusions for cancer patients 👇
