It's #WorldBreastfeedingWeek!🌎👶🏽 Every year, during the first week of August, we come together to celebrate the incredible act of #breastfeeding and all the wonderful benefits it provides. While it may present challenges for some, the bonding and nourishment it offers for both mother and baby are truly remarkable. It is important to continue promoting the education of breastfeeding for all #mothers, so they can fully understand its wonders. #June is #PTSD awareness month 🖤 In our field, we are consistently seeing moms who suffer from this crippling condition. To no fault of their own, mothers are not being informed of their rights in a medical setting, of what could happen if their birth doesn't go as planned, or getting proper help post-birth to get ahead of mental health issues-should they arise. 🌎With 130 million babies born around the world every year, that means that a staggering number of women may be trying to cope with the disorder with little or no recognition. 🌎 ▪️Women who experience traumatic deliveries, defined as involving complications, use of instruments to assist delivery or near death, go on to develop PTSD. ◾Women whose infants have had a NICU stay are also at high risk of PP PTSD. ◼️Women who have a history of prior trauma- perhaps victims of abuse, previously had PTSD, depression, or anxiety-are 5 times more likely to develop PP PTSD. Because PTSD holds such a complex mixture of symptoms experienced by women after birth, this can often lead to delays in treatment and misdiagnosis. Another issue standing in the way of diagnosis is the stigma attached to the condition. Majority of women do not feel comfortable speaking openly about it for fear of being seen as a failure as a mother, or of seeming ungrateful for their baby. PP PTSD can deeply affect a woman's emotional well-being, and as well as their ability to care for and bond with their baby. Please know that help is out there. Treatment for PP PTSD is effective and can help mothers feel more balanced, strong, and able to be the parent they want to be. We are working on creating a safer world for mothers to be able to thrive. Together, we will get there. 🦋🤞🏽 #DelightedtoDoula #EndMaternalMortality #NoMotherLeftBehind #EveryMotherCounts #MamasMatter #MaternalMortality #MothertheMothers #SavetheMothers #MaternalHealth #TheMaternalTruth #Postpartum #PostpartumCare #PostpartumWellness #PostpartumDoula #PTSD 🌐 https://buff.ly/4bE0Jzu

Alright ladies, let's have an informative chat! The return of your period after giving birth can vary, typically occurring between six and 12 weeks postpartum. 🩸 Exclusive breastfeeding can delay menstruation until solid foods and other milk are introduced. The hormone prolactin, which aids in milk production, can lower estrogen and progesterone levels, reducing the likelihood of ovulation and menstruation. 😱 Following childbirth, it is common for women to experience heavier periods than pre-pregnancy. Additionally, they may encounter new symptoms such as intense cramps, nausea, and discomfort during bowel movements. It's natural to not feel like yourself for some time as your body adjusts back to its regular routine. Please be patient with yourself and give yourself grace during this transition. It's okay to take things at your own pace and allow yourself time to fully recover.🤲🏾 💕 Always remember to reach out to your provider if something does not feel right to you! Trust your instincts and take care of yourself, mama. Listen to your body and prioritize self-care. 🦋 #DelightedtoDoula #EndMaternalMortality #NoMotherLeftBehind #EveryMotherCounts #MamasMatter #MaternalMortality #MothertheMothers #SavetheMothers #MaternalHealth #TheMaternalTruth #Postpartum #PostpartumCare #PostpartumWellness #PostpartumDoula
