Thank you to Sanford Health Pediatrics and The University of South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine for hosting a pediatric Grand Rounds event on October 24th to educate pediatric residents, Sanford pediatricians, and medical students about the importance of children’s oral health. Dr. Christensen with ABC Pediatric Dentistry in Sioux Falls and Jean Gross, Oral Health Educator of DDSD presented at the event. Together we are providing continuous pediatric oral health education!

These are just a few of the questions we got at the Old Courthouse Museum while handing out toothbrushes with the help of University of South Dakota dental hygiene students. We saw ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses, oh my! 👻

South Dakota State University nursing students have been applying fluoride varnish at elementary schools in Aberdeen to help prevent cavities and tooth decay in young children. Thanks to our oral health educator these nurses did a great job and will continue to put their new knowledge to work. Children also learned an important lesson about caring for their teeth!

🎃 We had a fantastic time at Spooky Science at the Washington Pavilion! At our booth, children got creative by drawing spooky germs and sugary treats on teeth, then practiced brushing them away with a toothbrush. A huge thank you to the four University of South Dakota students who joined us, helping with activities like spinning the prize wheel and handing out tooth fairy stickers! 🧚
