True innovation in medtech begins with empathy. Last week at JeffSolves MedTech Pitch Night, two teams of Thomas Jefferson University students took the stage at our Philadelphia studio to showcase healthcare solutions they’ve spent over a year developing, in partnership with patient experts and clinicians. A human-centered approach delivered solutions that address real user needs: — Team #1 designed Heel Up, a modified crutch with a built-in elevation system. Users with leg injuries can easily transform the crutch into an elevation platform wherever they happen to be, helping to reduce painful swelling as they recover. — Team #2 designed the Commodore, a bedside commode that prioritizes safety, accessibility, and dignity. By listening to real users, the students created a design that fixes six major shortcomings in existing models. Users called it a game-changer. We’re so proud to be part of this program—nine years and counting! Check out our Pitch Night recap and learn more about the JeffSolves Medtech program: https://hubs.la/Q02Th2-v0 – Hello. Our hearts go out to the people of Tampa and everyone impacted by Hurricane Milton. Amid the devastation, 37 homes powered by BlockEnergy in southeast Tampa weathered the storm without losing power—a bright spot in a difficult time. We’re deeply proud to have contributed to the development of BlockEnergy’s innovative platform, which provided stability and comfort to families when they needed it most. It's moments like these that remind us of the importance of clean, reliable energy so communities can stay connected and up and running, even when unexpected challenges come our way. Kudos to BlockEnergy for their visionary leadership in pioneering dependable, storm-ready energy solutions. We’re honored to partner with companies that share our commitment to a more sustainable future. Stuck waiting on delayed trains? We turned a chaotic winter in Boston into the inspiration for DELAID—an app that predicts your commute. Winter 2014 was a special brand of hell. Record snowfall led to record delays and cancellations for the city’s transit system. While experts estimated billions were needed to fix the country’s oldest public transport system, Boston didn’t have that kind of cash. Instead of waiting for a fix, the Delve team designed something to ease the pain of a transit system that always seemed destined to fail. We created the first predictive commuter-focused app: DELAID. DELAID uses machine learning to factor in weather, time of day, and a growing archive of arrival data. It helps commuters anticipate and plan for delays. Are you ready to lead in the future of your industry? Most organizations just react to trends. That makes them vulnerable. Some anticipate change and create strategies. They’re better prepared, but still playing catch-up. Very few lead and shape the future they desire. So, where is your organization now? Where do you want to be? Is your innovation incremental, strategic, or visionary? You should aim to be active across all three! Use our Future-Readiness Checklist to assess your approach: https://hubs.la/Q02RnjPB0 –  Hello. Design succeeds when it doesn’t leave anyone out. What happens when we put diversity, equity, and inclusion at the heart of design? One standout example: The Not Impossible Haptic Vest. Created by Not Impossible Labs, the Haptic Vest lets people who are deaf or hard of hearing feel music. Delve and other design and engineering experts contributed to its development. The goal? An inclusive concert experience for all fans—deaf and hearing alike. How does it work? The vest translates music into vibrations. Imagine this: When the drummer hits the bass drum, you feel it in your ankles. The snare hits? That’s on your wrists. As the vocals rise, vibrations grow stronger across your shoulders. It’s a perfectly synced, immersive experience. The Haptic Vest made its debut at Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas. It also won Silver at the IDEA Awards for Social Impact Design.
