📣 Summer Intern Spotlight! Meet Caleb Ockman. Mr. Ockman is a rising senior at Williams College, where he double majors in History and Russian with a concentration in Foreign Policy. He is currently working on his senior honors thesis in the history department and joins us with nuanced international experience, as he has lived in five countries: Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Kenya, and the U.S. As a Strategy and Design intern, Mr. Ockman appreciates DI’s rapid growth and looks forward to learning about our staff's experiences and current projects. He is particularly fascinated by the Social and Behavioral Science team’s approach to our programs, and he is excited to sit in on their design sessions to learn more about their decision-making process. While Mr. Ockman is still deciding on his post-grad plans, he hopes to work for a few years in a foreign policy-related field before potentially attending law school or getting a master’s degree in a subject related to policy work. Ultimately, he would like to work in other countries where he can help with economic, DRG, or judicial development projects. DI is excited to support his growth and looks forward to seeing his contributions to the field. #SummerInternSpotlight #Internship #InternationalDevelopment #InternationalDevelopmentCareers #DevelopmentJobs #Democracy #HumanRights #Governance

Summer Intern Spotlight! Meet Anhelina Kharuk. Ms. Kharuk is currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, concentrating on international law, human rights, and technology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in World Politics and Economy from Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania and has participated in an Erasmus+ exchange program at the University of Napoli Federico II in Naples, Italy. As a part of the Justice, Rights, and Security Rapid Response (JURIS) Activity team, Ms. Kharuk is eager to learn more about rapid response mechanisms, and she finds it fascinating how these projects seize the window of opportunity to benefit global communities. So far, she has worked on drafting and compiling after-action reports that assess the outcomes of our projects. She is also interested in the operational context, the challenges faced by the mission and its partners, and the methods used to address these challenges, as these elements track the causal link between the initial proposal and activity implementation. Ms. Kharuk aspires to attend law school and become a lawyer specializing in international and human rights law, with a particular focus on digital rights, intellectual property, and war crimes. Her Ukrainian heritage has fostered her commitment to seeking accountability and prosecution for crimes committed by Russia during the Russo-Ukrainian war. Until then, her primary focus will be addressing the emerging challenges and threats posed by artificial intelligence and the rise of digital networks, and she believes working with the JURIS team is truly complementary to these objectives. We look forward to continue collaborating with and supporting Ms. Kharuk as she brings her passion and dedication to advancing justice and human rights worldwide to our JURIS team! #SummerInternSpotlight #Internship #InternationalDevelopment #InternationalDevelopmentCareers #GlobalDevJobs #DevelopmentCareers #Democracy #HumanRights #Governance
