  • Calling all members of the Rutgers community! As part of the 2025 Young Leaders Civic Action Program, Milena and her team have launched the Latinx Pre-Law Society (LPLS) Pre-Law Fund. Scholarships from this fund will provide direct support to Rutgers students from marginalized communities or those facing financial hardship, reducing barriers such as such as LSAT prep costs and law school application fees. You can learn more, support, and follow their campaign’s progress at bit.ly/LPLSfund, or on Instagram at @rulatinxprelaw. Or, share and spread the word! Keep up the great work, YLCAP 2025 Fellows!

Founding President of Latinx Pre-Law Society at Rutgers University

Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to share that the Latinx Pre-Law Society has officially launched its very own Pre-Law Fund! Over the past few months, our executive board has been working hard to make this initiative a reality, and we are excited to see it come to life. The Latinx Pre-Law Society's Pre-Law Fund is dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion in the legal field by providing financial support for underrepresented students. Your donations help support multiple students by covering LSAT prep, law school application fees, and other pre-law-related expenses. Our goal is to raise $1,500 by May 3rd, and we hope you'll consider contributing! Donate here: https://bit.ly/LPLSfund In addition, we would like to extend an invitation to lawyers and law students in our network to join us for our Pre-Law Reception on Friday, May 2nd, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Trayes Hall A in the Rutgers Douglass Student Center. This event will celebrate our organization’s progress and mark the final day to contribute to our Pre-Law Fund. If you are a lawyer or law student interested in attending, please fill out our RSVP form here: https://lnkd.in/gMXEeKQe If you are a RU student interested in attending, please fill out our RSVP form here: https://lnkd.in/gQickHRb We truly appreciate your support and hope to see you there—thank you!

  • Thinking about joining YLSI this summer? Our alumni have your answer: "Just do it!" 💫 When our 2025 YLCAP cohort gathered to kick off the program in January, many shared how their leadership journeys were taken to new heights by completing the Young Leaders Summer Institute (YLSI) in years prior. With YLSI's free and flexible programming, Fellows log on from all over the country (and world!) and build leadership skills with just 3-5 hours per week. We are consistently inspired by the passionate community of young leaders in the Democracy House network - and in 2025, YOU can join them by applying for YLSI! The priority deadline is coming up (March 23, THIS ‼️ Sunday)! Learn more about YLSI at https://lnkd.in/gSR5BZEc - and if you're thinking about applying, JUST DO IT!

  • On this day sixty years ago, hundreds of civil rights activists marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL to advocate for Black Americans' right to vote. What happened that day sparked action for civil rights across the nation, paving the way for the Voting Rights Act to be passed later that year. Today, we honor the courageous actions of those marchers, and recognize the continued work ahead of us as a community to defend, strengthen, and improve democracy.

  • NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS: Take your leadership to the next level this summer with the Democracy House Young Leaders Summer Institute! ☀️ We are excited to share that applications for YLSI 2025 are OPEN! Learn about democracy and hone your leadership skills in this free, nonpartisan, and virtual institute. You'll build community with fellows across the country and join a growing community of over 200 alumni passionate about strengthening democracy! The priority deadline to apply is Sunday, March 23. Learn more and apply at the 🔗 in our bio!

  • Earlier this month, the Young Leaders Civic Action Program kicked off with an in-person leadership training for the full cohort. During that time, they designed campaigns to strengthen democracy and set the foundation for action. Over the course of the semester, they'll be supported by their coaches and each other to make it all happen! 🤩
