About us
Green inside and out, Denver Botanic Gardens is considered one of the top botanical gardens in the United States and a pioneer in water conservation. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Gardens’ living collections encompass specimens from the tropics to the tundra, showcasing a plant palette chosen to thrive in Colorado’s semi-arid climate. The Gardens' dynamic, 24-acre urban oasis in the heart of the city, offers unforgettable opportunities to flourish with unique garden experiences for the whole family – as well as world-class education and plant conservation research programs. Additional sites at Chatfield Farms, a 700-acre wildlife and native plant refuge in Jefferson County; and Mount Goliath, a high-altitude trail and interpretive site on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, extend this experience throughout the Front Range.

We look forward to the first growing season at Chatfield Farms’ new Solar Garden! Grateful to all the partners who helped make this project possible.
Leading bold justice-centered climate action in Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency
This week, Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency - City and County of Denver celebrated our newest community solar garden at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms with Mayor Mike Johnston. This project is one of the largest #agrivoltaics projects in the country. The voter approved Climate Protection Fund paid for the project. Not only does it produce enough clean energy to power Chatfield, it also provides clean energy bill credits to 150 Denver Public Schools families to lower their energy bill by 50% AND will produce 50,000 pounds of food annually to be donated to people in need. Thank you to McKinstry for the design and construction, Energy Outreach Colorado for enrolling families for energy bill credits, National Renewable Energy Laboratory for assisting with research on the benefits of combining solar and farming, E Light Electric Services, Inc. for their partnership with the African American Trade Association to bring in two Journeyman and two Apprentices from our Green Workforce program, Denver Botanic Gardens for their support of the entire project and so many others. Thanks especially to Jonathan Rogers for launching this program, Noah Catalfomo, Drew Halpern, MPA, Josie Hart, Shannon Jahn, Jessmine Anderson , Emily Gedeon , and Chelsea Warren
