Yesterday, DePaul College Prep hosted Dr. Daniela Stan Raicu, Professor of Computing at DePaul University Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media, for a talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Dr. Raicu and two accompanying graduate students talked to DePaul Prep students and faculty about how AI is changing the world around us and why understanding it is a crucial skill for the future.

Today, we begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday, a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Students, Faculty and Staff gathered for liturgies which included the distribution of ashes as we begin this sacred journey of renewal and transformation.

Can new knowledge change established values or beliefs? Are some things unknowable? What role does imagination play in producing knowledge in the world? Last Thursday 9 IB seniors attempted to answer the overarching question: How does Theory of Knowledge (TOK) manifest in the world around us? The TOK Exhibition is the culmination of work in the IB Diploma capstone class, Theory of Knowledge.

Our Black Student Union delivered an unforgettable assembly today, capping off a month of meaningful celebration and reflection. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this Black History Month so impactful!

Congratulations to STEAM faculty member Will Schneider on the private screening of his short film, Tame, at the Davis Theater. “This project has been in the works for nearly 4 years. We’ve finally finished it, and now it’s time to share it with an audience,” said Schneider. The Davis Theater is also the location of the DePaul Prep Film Festival which is held in the Spring, showcasing student films.

Faculty & Staff members prepared a delicious and colorful pasta salad for the Elizabeth Ann Seton Soup Kitchen (located at St. Vincent de Paul Parish Chicago in Lincoln Park). The Culinary Arts classroom provided the perfect space for slicing and dicing this healthy and hearty meal!

Student representatives from the Black Student Union attended the 47th Annual African American Heritage Prayer Service at Holy Name Cathedral. Approximately 1,500 Catholic school students worshipped together to celebrate Black History Month as a Chicagoland community. Archdiocese of Chicago
