Winning the T20 world cup demonstrates how cricket continues to be a symbol of pride within South Asian communities. This win reinforces the domination of the Indian male Cricket team in the sport. FIRST FEMALE PAKISTANI SHOOTER IN THE OLYMPICS 21 year old, Kishmala Talat is the first female Pakistani shooter to qualify for the Olympic games. What impact does this have? She challenges traditional gender roles and stereotypes, demonstrating that women can excel in sports traditionally dominated by men. This will empower other women to challenge societal norms and strive for excellence in their chosen endeavors. AFGHANISTAN TO HAVE 3 FEMALE OLYMPIANS Kimia Yousofi will represent "the stolen dreams and aspirations" of Afghanistan's women. The 100m sprinter will make her third appearance at the Olympics. What impact does this have? Kimia participating on an international stage, while restrictions have been set for girls sports, currently serves as a beacon of hope and resilience for women and girls in Afghanistan. It will be the first time Afghanistan has three female athletes at the Games! PV SINDHU AS INDIA’S FEMALE FLAG BEARER Sindhu has been selected as the female flag bearer for India for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics. She is the first Indian woman to win a silver medal at the Olympics and gold at the BWF World Championships. What impact does this have? Being selected as India’s female flag bearer is an honor celebrates her contributions to Indian sports and underscores the progress being made towards greater gender equality in athletics. INDIAN ELECTION RESULTS Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi won 293 seats total with its allies. The world’s and history’s largest democratic election, with 640 million votes. What impact does this have? His re-election suggests a continued focus on economic reform but also to revisit past criticisms. These policies could impact the social fabric and inter-community relations within India. NOBEL Laureate Indicted in Bangladesh Embezzlement Case Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus and 13 others were indicted by a Bangladesh court on Wednesday. Yunus, 83, and his Grameen Bank won the 2006 Nobel Peace prize for work to lift millions out of poverty by granting tiny loans of under $100 to the rural poor of Bangladesh. What impact does this have? They were charged with 252.2 million taka ($2 million) from the workers' welfare fund of his telecoms company.
