In a nod to the upcoming Olympics, our Chicago office held their own version of the games this past weekend followed by a family picnic. The office split into two teams and competed in five different games. 1. Build the tallest free-standing tower with noodles and marshmallows. 2. A scavenger hunt that took them all over the city of Chicago. 3. Pictionary with Parisian-inspired words. 4. Match pantone color swatches with everyday items found in the office. 5. A modified game of cornhole. In the end, the red team took home the gold, what a great way to start getting pumped about the games later this week! #letthegamesbegin 🥇

Last night was an exciting evening for our Urban Design, Landscape, and Architecture studios as we hosted the second public workshop for the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park Plan. Check out the CBS news feature below for a sneak peek! It was inspiring to reconnect with community members and unveil our initial concept plans for this vast 500+ acre property, shaped by the invaluable feedback we've gathered over the past six months. This project is more than just a plan—it's a profound journey of creating a new communal space that pays tribute to the site's rich history and the lives intertwined with it. We're humbled and excited to see it evolve. https://lnkd.in/eqYk3mch

Design Collective and Montgomery County’s Planning Department recently hosted a community workshop for the Damascus Placemaking Festival! Over the course of 2 days, Damascus tested temporary public realm improvements along their downtown Main Street. This weekend served as a “living laboratory” to see what potential improvements may want to be considered for future permanent installations. At the workshop, we asked the community to envision their future Main Street as a way to understand their needs and start building a list of program. 98 members of the community described things like retail, shade, seating, pedestrian safety and other community amenities. This information will be analyzed and used to start developing the program and events schedule for the Placemaking Festival!
