On our final day of #DevWoS we supported Food for Others, packing 150 Power Packs – over 463lbs of food. The power packs provide weekend meals for students in Fairfax County who are experiencing food insecurity. On Day 6, Dev team members headed to South Lakes High School to support their PTSA's Food Pantry. The team unloaded bags of groceries from cars, unloaded and sorted food donations, and packed the food pantry items back into cars for pick-up. We helped distribute 200 bags of groceries plus additional food donations to support local families this weekend. The party included a make your own caramel apple bar, a spooky craft, a story accompanied by Halloween candy, face painting, and an amazing obstacle course with a haunted tunnel. On Week of Service Day 5, Dev Technology volunteered at the Cornerstones FREE from Hunger Center, where food is 'rescued' from local grocery stores and then distributed to those in need in our community. The team unloaded, sorted, and organized the day's donations. On Day 4 of Dev’s Week of Service, the team supported N Street Village helping with clean up from their SHERO event, counting remaining t-shirts, and sorting donated clothes. For 50 years, the organization has been supporting women experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC and transformed thousands of lives. Another #DevWos activity – Members of the Dev team supported the Northern Virginia Science Center and the Children's Science Center's Science Night at a local elementary school. The event provided learning opportunities through hands on science activities to help engage and excite children in science and engineering learning and exploration. Our remote colleagues also participated in volunteer events in their communities. We had a team member support a junior high music program working on how to support music in the schools through advocacy, fundraising, and volunteer efforts. And another team member participated in a Potomac Conservancy Cleanup at a park in Maryland. #DevGivesBack
