Team members from the Center's Fort Eustis location participated the Troop 103 Aviation Day, a #STEM outreach effort hosted by Boy Scouts of America Troop 103 out of Williamsburg, Virginia. The team flew in a UH-60M test aircraft, supported by a team of experimental test pilots, crew members and a flight test engineer. They also contributed to the scouts' completion of one of their requirements for their aviation merit badges -- learning and reporting on aviation careers. #Congratulations to the 44 scouts who earned their #Aviation merit badges! #Outreach | #WeAreAvMC

The DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center is proud to be part of an essential group of laboratories and centers under the U.S. Army DEVCOM umbrella, partnering with them to produce the next generation of Army technology for our Soldiers. Here, we hosted our counterparts from U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center at the Center, strengthening a relationship in support of the mission we both share. #ArmyTeam | #WeAreAvMC | #ThrowbackTuesday

Watch: Director Dr. James Kirsch joins fellow #ArmyAviation leaders Maj. Gen. Michael McCurry, Army Futures Command; Brig. Gen. Cain Baker, Future Vertical Lift Cross Functional Team; and Col. Jeff Poquette, Future Long Range Assault Aircraft at the Association of the United States Army - AUSA Annual Meeting for a Defense News panel on Future Vertical Lift. "As we push our launched effects further and further out in front, and conduct that scout role that in previous years we did with manned assets, we need to understand what behaviors are required, and what sensors are required to give us that same awareness of what is in front of us. So that as we move manned formations forward, we know what we are about to face." #AUSA2024 | #WeAreAvMC

AvMC has enjoyed a long partnership with the Missile Defense Agency, collaborating on many of the Agency’s marquee programs, including the Sea-Based X-Band Radar, otherwise known as SBX, otherwise known as Floating Epcot. Okay, we made that second one up, but you cannot un-see it now, can you? The SBX is an advanced X-band radar mounted on a mobile, ocean-going, semi-submersible platform that provides the Missile Defense System with an extremely powerful and capable radar that can be positioned to cover any region of the globe. Its ocean-spanning mobility allows the radar to be repositioned as needed to support the various MDS test scenarios. #Partnership | #TechToProtect | #TeamBehindTheTech

We are highlighting partnerships this week with another mission partner being the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office. Huntsville, Alabama, has become a hub for directed energy, with DEVCOM AvMC and RCCTO enjoying a strong partnership on programs such as DE M-SHORAD, or Maneuver Short Range Air Defense. AvMC’s Technology Development Directorate and Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate provides RCCTO with verification of software and requirements, test support and analysis, and support regarding system integration issues. AvMC also provides the management and operation of a government DE lab that performs verification and validation on the DE M-SHORAD software. #Partnerships | #TechToProtect

#DidYouKnow: AvMC's Russell Tower is used for testing sensors and gathering data on detonations, but with 1,000+ steps to climb, it also has been used by Huntsville Fire and Rescue to train their firefighters. #WeAreAvMC | #Partnerships
