Devcon's latest housing project, The Kelsey Ayer Station (TKAS), was featured on a PBS segment regarding the housing issues that people with disabilities face, amid our nation-wide housing shortage. Devcon's Design-Build team worked closely with The Kelsey and Sares Regis Group of Northern California to design TKAS to accommodate a diverse population, foster a welcoming community, and help provide individuals with disabilities with their own homes. We are proud of our team, as well the project donors, partners and our subcontractors, for building this inclusive and welcoming community that will help serve the disabled population in the Downtown San Jose Area! Last week marked a significant achievement for Devcon’s Elco Yards project! The team celebrated the last concrete pour for Building C, a 4-story (+2 underground) cast-in-place concrete life science building, the last building to top out in this massive development project in Redwood City. To honor this milestone, we hosted a topping-out party with a BBQ for 450+ crew and team members. There was a ceremonial last concrete pour and inspiring speeches from Devcon Sr VP Andy Schatzman and Redwood City Mayor Jeff Gee A huge thank you to our incredible team and partners IQHQ and WRNS Studio for their hard work and dedication and congrats to the whole project team! Here's to more successful projects and milestones! 🏗️💪 #ConstructionMilestone #ElcoYards #Devcon #RedwoodCity #ToppingOut #ConcretePour #LifeScienceBuilding #ConstructionLife #Teamwork #BuildingSuccess

Throughout the course of the Elco Yards project, the IQHQ / WRNS Studio team worked side-by-side with Devcon Construction and our fabrication partners, allowing for rapid iteration of material possibilities, color selections, and fabrication requirements. The team was strategic in selecting mockup elements that could be used for visual, performance and agency review all at once. The final production panels show the complexity of geometry that was able to be achieved by the early action and collaborative approach taken by team. Redwood City, the oldest town on the SF Peninsula, was once a thriving Gold Rush port and commercial hub. Elco Yards breathes new life into this historic city with a variety of dynamic live/work spaces and a vibrant public realm. Open spaces, squares, and walkable streets invite people to partake in the city’s many offerings, modeling a sustainable, urban-minded development pattern for the quickly growing region. The new buildings—which vary in massing, materiality, and scale—eschew monolithic development and feel authentic to Redwood City. The renovation of an old feed barn and events lawn creates a gateway to the neighborhood, celebrating the city’s history, ritual, and memory. Four buildings are under construction and are estimated to complete in 2025. 🔗 Learn more about the project here. https://lnkd.in/gY74kZya Owner / Developer: IQHQ Contractor: Devcon Construction 1 Renderings: Steelblue / Courtesy IQHQ 2 and 3 Photos: WRNS Studio

Today, after 34-years with Devcon, we celebrate Peter Copriviza’s retirement! Peter first joined us in 1990 as Devcon’s 13th Project Manager, back when beepers and Excel were new technology and his first child, AJ, was just 4 months old. To say that Peter will leave a legacy behind is an understatement. Throughout his tenure, Peter has worked on over 500 projects, including 43 buildings for Cisco. Among his favorites are The Intercontinental at Monterey and Avaya Stadium. Peter allows his team members the freedom to lead projects while always being there to handle sticky situations. Peter’s door is always open to offer advice on work or, just as commonly, life. His calm demeanor and unwavering positive attitude have made him a beloved coworker and respected manager. At company events, you’d be hard-pressed to find Peter without a Coors Light (or two) in his hand. Whether on the dance floor or the golf course, Peter and his wife Jackie are the life of every party. Legend has it Peter once performed a front flip on his way to accept the first-place trophy at our company trip golf tournament… Peter’s impact on the construction industry is significant, and his passion for his work is evident in his family, as his two sons and son-in-law have followed in his footsteps, becoming part of the Devcon family as well. One of Peter’s fondest memories is filling a table with his family members at the company Christmas party—a rewarding moment for a proud father. The office won’t be the same without Peter’s signature walk, shit eating grin, and contagious energy. While he will be greatly missed, we wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement. Peter looks forward to sleeping past 4 a.m., spending time with his five (and counting) grandkids, traveling, and trying to keep up with his wife on the golf course. Peter, your mark on this company is indelible. Your legacy lives on in the buildings you built, the company trip stories that can’t be repeated here, and the passion for the industry you’ve passed on to the next generation. May you find even more success and happiness in retirement than you did in your time at Devcon. Happy trails ahead, friend.
