We spent a fascinating afternoon with Nottingham Partners at the Nottingham War Rooms, who laid on a guided tour of the cold war relic which is being brought back to life. Host Craig Cameron of Hamilton Russell, the developers with a transformative vision for the War Rooms, showed us the War Rooms in their current time-warp state and told us of its exciting future, in which its history will be honoured while being utilised for the benefit of the local community through partnerships with (e.g.) BASE 51 and East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire). Attached are some photographs which give a glimpse of the life in the War Rooms planned in the event of a nuclear war, including the administration of essentials such as beds, office chairs and ash trays, fire fighting equipment such as asbestos cloths (long since removed of course), and possibly the most essential of essentials in the event of a nuclear attack - plenty of Kenyan tea ☕.
