Caron Treatment Centers in PA hosted us for a tour of their beautiful treatment facility and overview of their cutting edge research center. Thank you Dr Adam Scioli and Dr Erin Deneke for showing us your forward thinking applications of neurocognitive treatment and testing to help advance addiction recovery and to gauge a patient’s readiness for avoiding relapse. Through the DSAMH State Opioid Response Tier Award Program (TAP), we are pleased to announce the release of three funding opportunities designed to improve outcomes for individuals affected by opioid use disorder (OUD) and stimulant use disorder (STUD). 🔸 Tier 4.A Solicitation (up to $75,000 per award) This funding supports projects implementing SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) and follow-up services, providing early intervention for those at risk of substance use disorders. If you're part of an outpatient medical practice (including primary care, Federally Qualified Health Centers, women’s health, infectious disease, dental, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic practices, optometry/ophthalmology practices, and more), this is a pivotal opportunity to make a tangible impact on your community. 🔸 Tier 4.B and 4.C Solicitation (up to $300,000 per award) This funding supports projects that implement promising or evidence-based practices and innovations for individuals at risk for, or with, OUD and STUD. There are two tracks available under this solicitation: •Track 1: Treatment Providers Goal: Implement innovative, evidence-based practices to sustainably improve OUD/STUD treatment outcomes or enhance treatment provider capabilities for measurable improvements in patient care. •Track 2: Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) Goal: Engage individuals with OUD/STUD, expand CBO capacity, and address health-related social needs to improve treatment outcomes, quality of life, and other well-being indicators. They’ve all earned Gold Level recognition in The Restaurant Accolade Program! 🥘 The program was created to assist the restaurant industry with addressing the drug overdose crisis. This initiative equips restaurant employees with knowledge, skills, and resources — such as Narcan® kits — to reduce deaths. Link to the video is below in the comments!

🌍 DSAMH was thrilled to provide support to Mother African Union Church in its role with the recent August Quarterly Festival at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park. More than 1,500 people attended and 75 Narcan kits were distributed. Mother African Union Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ronald Whitaker, partnered with DSAMH to recruit Black business owners in Delaware to pledge to educate their staff and customers on substance use and opiate use disorder and Narcan. 🌍 This partnership is made possible through DSAMH’s Health Equity Advancement Project (HEAP), funded by the State Opioid Response grant from SAMHSA. 🌍 The August Quarterly Festival, also known as the Big Quarterly, is a beacon of African American cultural and religious heritage in Wilmington, DE. The festival stands as a historic testament to African American religious freedom and self-determination.
