Patient Advocacy- it’s totally hip, in vogue, and growing across the world. Schools need to get on board and listen to the wealth of knowledge we have and engage in partnership with parents. Thank you Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition for giving us a platform to make living with diabetes better.

I am so exited to be speaking in Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition's Brown Bag Webinar discussion series on Friday, November 8 at 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET! I'll be speaking on behalf of The diaTribe Foundation to share our newly launched #SpoonfulofLaughter campaign. We're using comedy to learn and laugh with people all over the world while we educate about diabetes and push back against stereotypes and stigma. I'll also be sharing a bit about the broader work that diatribe is doing to #EndDiabetesStigma and #dStigmatize diabetes! And I am thrilled to be joining Mark Heyman, PhD CDCES for this discussion. You can join the discussion at: https://lnkd.in/gEF4Rf4k And check out the campaign at: SpoonfulofLaughter.org #diabetes #diabetesadvocacy #diabetescomedy #t1d #t2d

We had such a wonderful weekend at the Children With Diabetes Friends for Life conference in California. I never miss an opportunity to advocate for better coverage for diabetes supplies with Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition. It’s always a bonus to embarrass my child.

Lights, Camera, TAKE ACTION! 🎥🎬 DPAC had an AMAZING time at Children With Diabetes' Friends For Life Conference in Anaheim this past weekend. ⭐️🎡☀️ We discussed what it means to be an advocate (especially during election season!) 🗳️, met dozens of new Champions💪, and talked about advocating for ourselves at school. 📚

In the current system, lack of transparency and perverse incentives for high rebates have dramatically increased prices for patients at the pharmacy counter. Products with a higher list price and sizable rebates are favored, rather than lower-cost products that deliver clinically equivalent treatment. The system harms patients across the spectrum. Americans are forced to pay more while their plans and PBMs profit. This system can be especially burdensome for people with chronic conditions.

We applaud Congress for capping out-of-pocket (OOP) insulin costs at $35 per monthly prescription among Medicare Part D enrollees, but more must be done. 25 states have already passed insulin cost-sharing cap legislation; It is time to protect all Americans by putting in place a national standard across all government and commercial plans, including Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) plans.
