Not sure if it’s time to replace your roller chain? You can measure wear on your roller chain by measuring the tight span of the drive when the drive is OFF – from the center of one pin to the center of another. The more pitches (pins) contained in this measurement, the more accurate your results. If the measured value exceeds the nominal by more than 3% in most industrial applications, it’s time for a replacement.
