This Monday, we're excited to introduce Sandy Sholl Fite, Director of Administration for Cargill Associates, a division of DickersonBakker. Sandy has been with the firm for two and a half years and we are blessed to work with her every day! As a project manager, her main tasks include managing timelines, formatting and customizing documents, scheduling meetings and being the main point of contact for our consultants and clients. One of the reasons Sandy enjoys working at DickersonBakker is the culture. She describes it as "an environment where employees can thrive and grow both professionally and personally." Of all the projects Sandy has had a hand in facilitating, the one she's most proud of is organizing and streamlining the entire process of launching the new Cargill church campaigns. Sandy finds her daily inspiration from her 96 year old dad! A fun fact about Sandy is that she can play "Stairway to Heaven" on the guitar. Finally, the next place on her travel bucket list is wildlife viewing in Botswana or Kenya. We are beyond thankful for all the incredible work Sandy does each and every day to ensure everything runs smoothly for both our consultants and clients. Let's leave some love for Sandy in the comments below! #dickersonbakker #teamspotlight #hardwork #determined

Leadership effectiveness drives fundraising growth. I'll help you improve both.

You have a story to tell... Often nonprofit orgs tell me that they're afraid to go to the media because their story isn't "relevant" during times of major news stories like the presidential race, global wars, economic downturns, etc. But that's not necessarily true. Check out what my friend and colleague Jessica Marsh has to say about how your cause can capture hearts and minds through strategic media relations and public relations. And be on the lookout for our full podcast conversation on nonprofit PR next week!

Thrilled to share that I've been selected as a judge for this year's International Echo Awards, celebrating data-inspired creative that drives results. As a "kid" growing up in the agency world many years ago in an Omnicom shop, I was always enamored with the buzz around the ECHO's. Not because they're an awards show (awards are great, don't get me wrong). Not because of the recognition (that's great too, but it's not enough). Because the ECHO's represent the work that works best to change behavior. And that's what this is all about. It's about creating great work that drives change in the world. I'm excited to represent DickersonBakker in this year's judging. And I'm really looking forward to seeing the amazing campaigns that brilliant people have created to drive growth for businesses and causes all around the world.

For the last team member spotlight in September, we'll be highlighting Virginia Grant, Marketing Coordinator. Virginia has been with DickersonBakker for just over a year. As Marketing Coordinator, Virginia works on marketing initiatives for the firm and handles all event and conference coordination. When asked what project she’s most proud of, Virginia mentioned her work on building processes and procedures for the marketing team and expanding the capabilities of the department through specific marketing initiatives. Virginia finds her inspiration from her family, specifically her father, an entrepreneur who chased his dreams and runs two small businesses in Atlanta, Georgia. An early-riser, Virginia is most productive in the mornings, getting to the office at 6:45 am each day. A fun fact about Virginia is that she taught indoor cycle classes in college. After playing competitive soccer for 15 years, Virginia sustained a career-ending knee injury, which led to her discovering a passion for indoor cycling. Outside of work, you can find Virginia taking a Corepower Yoga Sculpt class or walking to Katy Trail Ice House with friends! Virginia dreams of traveling to Italy and Greece, which are next on her bucket list. We're so thankful for all that you do, Virginia! #DickersonBakker #marketing #spotlight #teamplayer

In the last 60 days we've talked with a half dozen ministry and nonprofit leaders who reported that they are "behind goal" by anywhere from $500K - $2 Million this year. They're concerned about... Not making budget. Losing staff. Layoffs. Closing down a valuable program. Not being able to launch that new effort to help more people. There are no silver bullets in fundraising. There's no magic wand you can waive to make all of your funding challenges disappear. But there are a bunch of little things you can do, if you are facing a funding crisis like this, to help you close the gap. In fact, we had so many of these conversations that we created a tip sheet. You can get access to it here. It's not rocket science. But it's a thought-starter that has helped other organizations facing similar challenges to raise as much as $1 million in a very short period, to close their own funding gaps. Link in comments...

Today's team member spotlight is Shawn Saunders, CFRE, M.A.! This September, Shawn will celebrate 10 years with the firm and we are so grateful for his contributions over the years. As Partner & Group Vice President, Shawn's role mainly entails helping rescue missions build major gift programs and manage capital campaigns. Shawn describes the culture at DickersonBakker to be one of passion and growth. He says that everyone at the firm strives to build genuine and authentic relationships. Over the course of 10 years, Shawn has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, but when asked which ones he's most proud of, two come to mind. Shawn said that working with Buffalo City Mission and Community Ministries of North Augusta have been two projects that were both challenging, while incredibly rewarding. Shawn's daily inspiration comes from his late father, who always showed grit and determination through every aspect of life. Outside of work, Shawn enjoys going for walks or going for a hike. He also enjoys going hunting and fishing with his daughter. Shawn, we are so thankful for your years of service to DickersonBakker and the clients we serve. We are lucky to get to work alongside you each and everyday! #DickersonBakker #consultant #campaigns #inspiration
