🎉September was an incredible month! I had the chance to attend my first-ever three-day educational exhibition at DIDAC India 2024, and it was an absolutely surreal experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Oneiro Education at DIDAC. Meeting and connecting with people from across India and beyond, and interacting with schools from different parts of the country, was truly enriching.
🤝One of the most rewarding aspects of attending DIDAC India was the opportunity to network with so many like-minded professionals, educators, and industry leaders from across India and beyond.
🤖The event showcased AI-powered learning systems and a range of tools that are helping educators create more interactive learning environments. I was particularly impressed by the digital solar system experience an immersive tool that lets students explore the universe in ways that a textbook simply can't match.
📚While I had an incredible experience at DIDAC, witnessing how rapidly growing technology is making learning more engaging and innovative, I couldn’t help but notice a critical gap in the education landscape. After engaging with numerous schools and parents, it became evident that there is still a significant lack of awareness around the importance of career guidance.
In today's world, top grades alone are no longer enough to secure admission into prestigious universities. Early strategic career planning and guidance are essential, with a strong focus on building a well-rounded profile through extracurriculars, internships, and skill development. Unfortunately, many students and parents start thinking about career choices only after 12th grade, which is often too late.
Students today have easy access to countless digital platforms that offer internships, courses, and activities to help them build their profiles. While some students do take advantage of these opportunities, many end up in a loop of confusion. The various activities they pursue don't always align with their long-term career goals, leading to compromises in their choice of program or college later on.
Students aspire of attending top-tier institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and Yale, aiming for scholarships but are unaware of the right quality and quantity of work and level of preparation required to get there. This unawareness is a major barrier for many talented individuals.
Unfortunately, the concept of career counseling is limited till elite schools across Tier 1 and some Tier 2 cities. However, it is crucial that schools across the country, recognize the importance of having dedicated career counseling teams to guide students in choosing the right paths and building long-term plans for success.
