Y’all is our favorite word. ✨ Maybe it is because both our founder and Did Juno’s are from Texas, or maybe it is because we love words that include people and aren’t gendered. 🤠 We’re excited to host June’s lunch and learn on inclusive language. 🧠 We’ll cover what is working, what isn’t, and what you should stop using. 📖 What’s a language shift you have made recently? 💗 Register today! https://lu.ma/setupjune24 📚 [Image descriptions: All slides have a tan background with brown and green fonts and the logo and social handle at the bottom.  (1) Are you excluding people? The words you use matter. Check it out. (2) We’re calling folx in. We all can get it wrong, but we have to learn and be better. We’ve seen language choices from organizations and people that really go against our collective vision as a movement to be more inclusive and do no harm. What can we do? (3) Learn about language. For 30 minutes, we’re going to share how language can harm, what alternatives we have, and what we should do instead. How do I learn? (4) Never stop learning. Listen and read about what language groups are using or asking people not to use when writing and talking. Where do I go? (5) Set Yourself Up. June’s Topic: Inclusive Language: Y’all means all. A free, 30-minute lunch and learn. June 12 @ 12:30 pm ET / 9:30 am PT. Hosted by Roots of Change and Did Juno. (6) Y’all means all. (7) Join us. Recycling plastics won’t save us and today is Earth Day. 🌍 Every year, Earth Day has a theme. This year it is Planet vs. Plastics, which seems really fitting considering the plastic industry alone accounts for 5% of our global carbon emissions, and could even reach 20% by 2050 if we do not change course. 🫠 If nothing is done about the rate of production, it could triple by 2060. That’s why there is a push for the Global Plastics Treaty that is meeting this week in Canada. It isn’t perfect, but it is a great start if it doesn’t get stripped down by corporations. 🤞🏽 The problem with plastic is that it is breaking down and can be found in our food, water, and air. We continue to learn the impact plastics are having on ourselves and our environment. 🌊 Well, what about recycling plastic? 👀 Only 10% of the entire supply of plastics since the 1950s has ever been recycled. 😬 The plastic industry knew this was a problem, but instead worked to deceive the public for unfettered profits. 🤑 There is one thing that every human has in common. We were all born on Earth. It is our job to advocate for it. It’s our home. 🌎 Rampant colonization and capitalism have stripped so much from us. We cannot let them take the future of our planet too. 🪧 We need to listen to those most impacted. 🗣️ In 1979, the first environmental discrimination case was filed by Black leaders. They were the first in the United States to raise attention to the environmental hazards that disproportionately impacted a Black community. 🏛️ We must also center Indigenous communities who have always advocated for our planet and are responsible for 80% of the world’s biodiversity. 🧠 We have been exploring the impact of plastics all month in our newsletter in honor of this year’s theme. Come learn with us. Together, we can make a change. 🌱 Did you learn something new? 📚 [Image descriptions in comments.] #PlanetVsPlastics #EarthDay #EarthDay24 #Plastics #SayNoToPlastic

Does this sound familiar? 👀 You put all your time into an event. And then, it ends. A weight has been lifted, and everyone celebrates, but the work never stops.
