🌟 Addressing Malnutrition in Senior Care Facilities 🌟 As we continue to prioritize the well-being of our senior population, we must shine a light on an often-overlooked issue: malnutrition in care facilities. 🔍 Why It Matters: Malnutrition can lead to severe health complications, decreased quality of life, and increased hospitalizations among seniors. Proper nutrition is essential for maintaining strength, immune function, and overall health. 💡 What Can We Do? 1 - Personalized Meal Plans: Tailor nutrition to individual dietary needs and preferences. 2- Staff Training: Equip caregivers with knowledge about recognizing signs of malnutrition and the importance of proper nutrition. 3 - Engaging Activities: Incorporate cooking classes and food-related activities to encourage social interaction and interest in healthy eating. 🤝 Collaborative Efforts: Let’s work together—care facilities, healthcare professionals, families, and communities—to ensure our seniors receive the nourishment they deserve. By fostering an environment that prioritizes nutrition, we can significantly enhance their quality of life. Join the conversation! What strategies have you seen work effectively in tackling malnutrition in senior care? Share your insights below! 👇 #MAW24 #SeniorCare #Malnutrition #NutritionMatters #HealthyAging #ElderCare

What a unique solution by one of our clients, Crystal Care Centers Inc of Mansfield and their Dining Services department! In an effort to continue serving their residents deliciously prepared meals during a kitchen renovation, the innovative idea of a food truck is being utilized. While some kitchen equipment was moved and functioning in the dining room, the meals are prepared in a food truck parked outside of the dining room. The cooks have the equipment they need to continue providing the residents with nourishing meals while new flooring is installed in the existing kitchen. This has been a great effort of teamwork! Great job, Crystal Care Centers of Mansfield!

Recently, our very own Marcy Cook, along with Kay Mavko, Cynthia Blocksom, MEd, LD, RD, MCHES, FAND, and Wendy Phillips MS, RD, LD, FAND, FASPEN testified in front of the Ohio Senate Health Committee in favor of the Dietitian Licensure Compact (Senate Bill 211). The group discussed the importance of this legislation and noted the potential benefits for the overall health of Ohioans. Thank you to Marcy and everyone involved for supporting this important legislation so we can broaden access to nutrition care nationwide.

Recently, one of our Consultant Dietitian's Amanda Beda RDN, LD and the Dining Services team at Continuing Healthcare Solutions of Niles participated in the Ohio Health Care Association's Mystery Culinary Competition. Amanda and team prepared Slow Cooker Chicken Taco, Southwest Quinoa, Spicy and Fresh Side Salad, and Monkey Bread with Coffee Ice Cream. The residents' reactions included, "Finger-licking good!" and "The best chicken taco I've ever had!" Thank you, Amanda, for your hard work and dedication to the facilities and residents you serve!
