“As a first year principal at Duquesne City School District's K-8 Campus, Mrs. Erica Slobodnik is keeping an open line of communication across the entire building. She is very welcoming and listens to others' ideas to help make the best decision to meet the needs of our students, teachers and staff.” #ThankAPrincipal #dpvils

Digital Promise’s April Williamson, Karissa Bowen, M.Ed., and Shayla Cornick just wrapped an energizing few days exploring global approaches to propel learners on “STEMtastic Adventures” at the 14th annual mEducation Alliance Symposium. Three takeaways from their experience: • Global technology programs and tools should be developed with explicit consideration to contextual factors where they will be used, such as infrastructure, devices, connectivity, accessibility, human capacity, and sustainability. • Technology alone doesn’t promote STEM readiness, but norms, culture, and relationships do; learners need STEM role models at home, in teachers, in the community, and in society. • STEM education collaborations and partnerships are valuable, but there is currently a lot of duplication in efforts; we need to be intentional about sharing information and resources with those with similar goals. We’re grateful for this global community of education leaders who are continuously seeking and developing innovations to transform how we teach and learn. Looking forward to applying these global learnings to our work in the U.S. and around the world. #STEMeducation

Learner variability is the recognition that each student has a unique set of strengths and challenges across a whole child framework that are interconnected and vary according to context. Our professional learning aims to empower educators and leaders with an understanding of what learner variability is and how to design for it in their classrooms using four guiding principles: 1. Design Inclusive Environments that Foster Belonging 2. Design for the Whole Learner 3. Design with the Science of Learning in Mind 4. Design for Student Agency Let us equip your school or district’s professional learning with a focus on learner variability. https://bit.ly/46jEFse #LearnerVariability
